Well, it is that time of the year again. Some cultures call it Yule, Jul, while others call it Sol Invictus, Winter Equinox, or Christmas.

Which one do you adhere to and why?

Do you understand the origins and history of the holiday that you choose to celebrate?

I am not a believer in any of the Abrahamic religions (christianity, islam, & judeasm), I am not a pagan as I do not believe in any gods, nor am I an atheist because I do believe in a Supreme Dreamer of all that we call Reality. I accept all as rituals, and reject all as systems of belief.

To me, the ritual of celebrating the coming of the winter equinox is vital to the human psyche as we are aware of the shortening and lengthening of days which does cause changes to our bio-chemical production in our brains. By celebrating on the shortest and darkest of days, our brains are able to produce more endorphines as well as DMT which gives us the strength to begin another season. For some reason, the other animals don't need this... maybe it's our ability to consider what is happening in the world around us and our realization that we have no control over it.

So, what do you do to organically produce a high during this time? What are your rituals?

Aero,

I follow the ways of the Pagans and this is my Christmas:

21st December start of the festive holiday.
This is an important time, it is the shortest day, from now on summer is on its way, it is halfway through the bleak winter nights, time to give away excess storage to one's less fortunate than yourself. Time to bring in a tree from the cold and protect it from the snow, if we did not do this and all the trees died the world would end. We decorate it so it looks like a Cannabis plant in full bloom and to cheer us up. Decorations are erected to brighten the winter nights and my favorite eat drink and smoke all you like.
22nd December. eat drink and smoke all you like.Try to go to work.
23rd December. eat drink and smoke all you like.Try to go to work.
24th December. eat drink and smoke all you like.Try to hide from work.
25th December. Work shut. Good day for Television and driving your car fast up the motorway. and the wife cooks me a big dinner. Kids open presents.
26th December. Visiting friends and family. eat drink and smoke all you like.
27th December. Stop eating drinking and smoking all you like.Try to go to work.
28th December. Try to go to work.
29th December. Try to go to work.
30th December. Shopping. Try to recover from eating drinking and smoking all you like.

31st December. Meet friends, drink and smoke all you like.
1st January. 12th day of christmas. eat drink and smoke all you like. Plant Tree in sacred spot for future bliss.
2nd January. return to work looking like death.

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!!

Bliss on brother David, bliss on! I love your holiday!

I would like to add this that the typical Danish Jul (even though the xtian xmas is based on the Danish Jul, they don't celebrate xmas here and have not since christiandumb overtook the land over 1,000 years ago.) is an ancient festival of winter equinox. Here, people still celebrate life and it's continuance every 24th of December, when according to pagan traditions, was the end of the shortening of days and the beginning of the lengthening. This was Thor's time and every crack of thunder promised the beginning of new life.

Now people celebrate by sending massive fireworks into the sky to bring Thor's blessing upon them. Today, when the sky cracks back, modern day Dains raise a bottle of beer to the sky and salute thier good fortune. (They also do this whenever someone farts after drinking too much beer.)

The whole Jul fest peaks when everyone dances around the tree while singing. Jul is about sharing and celebrating the continuation of life. Everyone is expected to join in. Even if you might die before spring time, you are expected to participate in hopes that you will survive.

Anyway, I won't bore anyone with the details. Happy
(God) Jul to you and yours!
