I am so proud an touched by this I have to share it with you all.
Our ministry here in KC is one of outreach. We help members get jobs, emergancy shelter, permanent housing,emergancy food, ect.. Well last week we had to do a rescue scoop and swoop On 2 differant women who were both going thru some domestic violence. One was 17 the other 43 who didnt even know each other. This happened on the same night.
The 17 yr olds father beats the mother and her, she is a very intelligant young woman and she left, Her friend a member of ours brought her here. I was concerned with her being under 18 And called the police to see if I was with in the law in sheltering her. Guess what I WAS. In Missouri a 17 yr old can leave home , move out completely and not be harassed by the parents. So she stayed a week with us.
Well her mother wasnt ready to discuss anny domestic violence with me but she jumped all over the young girl for"Telling others their business" Being a Reverend puts us in ppls confidence and they discuss many things with me. Well the parents are now putting her into her own home. A family home that she grew up in next door to her grandmothers.They gave her the house so today she moved into it. When she told me goodbye she handed me a note and this is what it says.
