Why do you believe that, mate?
I think we have weakened our position by siding with the US on issues that many other nations are so strongly against. Although I think JH's foreign policy with Indonesia and other Asian neighbours will in time prove to be a bit of a master stroke as they become more powerful.
Obviously, our wealth of natural resources are an asset, I only hope as they become more valuable they are mined in a responsible and ecologically sound (as far as mining goes, anyways )way.
The balance of power around the world is certainly due to shift majorly within the next 50 years. _________________ Nothing so needs reforming as other people's habits.

I was wondering about Terence Mckenna's(God bless him) prediction for the end of history--December 21 2012. It's also precisely the last date of the Mayan calendar. Don't forget to put that one in your diaries folks. Keep it free, just in case.Readiness is all. I hope it's not going to be an anti-climax. _________________ don't pull no punches but don't push the river |

I've always interpretated the 12/21/12 prediction as referring to the death of an old, dysfunctional paradigm and the birth of a new, more workable reality model...
...and that sort of thing takes time, although we're experiencing the telescoping nature of time as regards these things -- as was noted by Buckminster Fuller -- things are occurring with increasing rapidity.
100,000 years from the hominid to human kind -- 10,000 years to the discovery of agriculture -- then only 400 years to the development of science and the Age-of-Reason -- just 150 years to the Industrial Revolution -- 60 years from the Wright Brothers first flight to the Mercury Space Program -- 30 years from huge honking analog electron tube computers (about the size of a Volkswagon van) to the primitive little Commodore 64's and Atari's -- 8 years until the advent of the PC -- which does things Univac could not even imagine -- 4 more years for the public to get easy access to the internet and just a couple of years for the development of the World Wide Web...
...the sum total of information doubling every 3 years -- then every 2 years -- then every 6 months.
There is a definite quickening afoot -- alluded to by many contemporary spiritual and metaphysical schools of thought -- and some philosophical physicists, such as Fred Allen Wolf and his ground-breaking film, "WHAT THE &#@&# DO WE KNOW?"
Something very good could happen by 12/21/12 -- but I doubt that that actual day, itself, will be particulary remarkable.
We live in interesting times -- a sort of shifting-sands situation, wherein we feel the past slipping away -- yet the future seems uncertain, because we're creating it in the NOW -- with no workable template or blueprint from our past.
Interesting times. Uncertain? Yep. Disturbing? Yep. Dangerous? At times.
The dinosaur is dying -- but it's still thrashing about -- it's still got enough life in it to be dangerous -- watch out for that tail!
But dying it is -- and we are the progenitors of the new paradigm -- the designers of the new, workable reality model -- one that incorporates, into it's spirituallity the concepts of justice and tolerance and a respect for the earth as a living entity to be nurtured in a beautiful symbiotic relationship that is sustainable and beneficial to all concerned.
It's up to us. There ain't nobody else.

12-20-12 has been mistakenly called the "end of the world". Its not, its the beggining of the age of aquarius, the final age. Remember the wise words of that decent band, Semisonic...................

The creation of a new model won't just just 'happen' due to ancient predictions... but regardless of the validity of such claims, we still have to work for it! I'm a believer that the evolotion of man was tipped off by the use of natural psychoactives... and I'd also like to think that we are forging the next step, an age of enlightenment, justice and universal love.
But it won't just happen on it's own. There is lots of work to be done! _________________ Nothing so needs reforming as other people's habits.

As I read the responses here, my own included, I realize how we all have been programmed to believe in and expect the worst. The future has not yet happened. Therefore, anything is possible. ANYTHING.
There was a week in 1963 that I'm sure anybody who was alive and aware in America or Russia was unable to see the possibility of civilization or even life continuing beyond. Yet, here we are, continuing this illusion. People are still being born, many of us are yet free to believe in a better future for all.
Funny how salvia and Thc work. I smoked a little Sally 10x a couple of days ago and I was barely at threshold. I just smoked a little hash and suddenly I remembered something that I learned from my big mesc trip last year. And that is...
As the world is stretching, fading in & out around me, and I am like warm taffy being stretched and pulled while seeing itself as an infinite reflection created when two mirrors reflect each other, I remember that I wanted to say this reality is made of plastic. Warm plastic that we can mold into any reality we want. Any reality we believe in is possible. But we must believe. Believing begins with thoughts. Thoughts are best communicated with words.
We can use our words to change the world. That's how the scientists did it. _________________ "Penalties against the possession of a drug
