This is meant to be an exploration of the reality that each of us has the opportunity to influence, and therefore experience. You may consider this an exercise in positivity versus negativity. There are no right, nor wrong answers and please feel free to comment as much as you want and as frequently as you want. You can even change your answer(s) as often as you like.

Thus said, Where do you see the world in 10 years?

Do you see the world locked in war? Do you see the world living in peace? (If so, is it One World Under American Armed Forces?)

Do you see a world struggling to survive after global war? Maybe I have not even considered the world you envision.

My hope is that one day we will all eventually envision a world that does have peace, true peace, but not at any cost. Not with the price of hundreds of thousands or millions of lives lost.

Thus said, Where do you see the world in 10 years?

I guess I should start this topic since I'm the author. Laughing

In 10 yrs I see the world... I see the world... Hmmmm... I want to be both honest and precise. How can I do that without having this end up in a lawsuit? Let me start over.

In 10 yrs I see the world with legaleeze by Aeroplane

In 10 yrs I see the world, at least my part of it ("my part" is not necessarily defined by ownership or rental rights, nor is it limited any particular physical space, and therefore need not be a physical manifestation in this conscientual reality.) living in peace ("peace" is defined as being free of militarism. Militarism may be defined as any use of force to suppress the rights and or will of the any portion of the population.). Global warming will be nonexistant. Destruction of the environment will be halted. And every man, woman, and child can do as they please ("do as they please " shall be defined as activities which do not cause harm to, nor threaten, neither are forced upon anyone. "every man, woman, and child " shall include all plant and animal forms while yet not excluding other forms of life that procreate.).

This is my dream for the world, at least my part of it, 10 yrs from now.

In 10 years...

I can see the downfall of American capitalism and the way of life as we know it, slipping into an age of community-based families taking back the land and utilizing renewable energy sources as an everyday means, instead of once or twice a year.
I would like to see more women leaders...there's way too many balls in politcs.

But, if I can get into aeroplane's envisioned soon-to-be reality, man, I can definitely smoke to that.

Fuck it... smoke1

here's to the future...

I tend to agree with aero -- and I don't see myself as pink-cheeked, bright-eyed optimist, either.

I just think the alternative is unacceptable.

I also have the notion that we CHOSE to be here on this planet at this particular time in order to help bring about the necessary change in consciousness needed to fix the problems that we now face.

To those of you who did not choose to be here, or are not a part of the change-for-the-better -- brightest blessings to you, and please try to keep out of the way.

Try to get in a bit of walking and read a good book now and then. Support your local indy-art theater.

Thank you,
Ben

I see a world in the distance ten years from here, in the next future.

It's easy to look at objects in the range of ten light years from us in the past, but what about the future? Where should it be projected? And if it's in the future, this object should show as red in the spectrum, because future approaches us. Past shows as blue, getting distance. At least theoretically.

In this world, in ten years time I see the turmoil turning into a huge fight. Won't be fun for a while.

All I know, is that in the next five years, the world will be drasticlly different.

In the past five years it has completely changed.

I remember a time, back somewhere in the latter part of the ninties, when the future looked good. It looked like we might be able to change the world for the better. It felt really great to be young and alive during that time.

Remember that old jesus jones song, "right here, right now". He talks about the world "waking up from history". that was in 90 or 91 I think. He was about 20 to 25 years off from that statement. In ten to fifteen years, were gonna find ourselves waking up from one of our worst periods in human history.

I was seeing photos taken of Nagasaki the day right after the bombing and I am dumbfounded how anyone can justify the use of nukes against a civilian population. In an instant, the entire city was obliterated. For as far as you can see, it looks a 100x worse than Ground Zero of the WTC.

There is a heartbreaking photo of a toddler whose eyes seem to look through the camera at us while asking, "Why?" The devastation and horror of the bomb have been forever imprinted on his sacred mind.

Though the survivors of this autrocity, this blasephmy, were not guilty of anything, they hold no anger nor hatred against America or it's people. In over 60 years they have not called out for revenge. Instead they have tried to remind us all, this need not be our future. If we only follow their example: hold no anger, forgive, and release the past. We must believe in a better future.

yep.i make you 100% right there brother Ferre !!!

i have seen those angry , accusing eyes in a child when i just happened to be passing through northern Chad and Sudan in 1974.

i was also a child then , and i can never forget those eyes.i saw them in a camp full of 80,000 people lying down in the dirt waiting to starve to death.

for a long time after that i hated the whole of humanity.it is hard to be optomistic about humanities future when you look at the evil things some of human kind is capable of.

how like spoiled little children we are.squabling over silly , meaningless things.

but since then i have come to learn that we are also capable of great things too.when i look down the road of history at the great men and women who have lived it lifts me up.

we are truly limitless.our spirit can transcend even the worst horrors.my heart soars like an eagle when i think of all the great things we are capable of.

even the least of us has the capacity for greatness.every day of our lives we cross paths with these people and never even know it. every day , unsung hero's.

people who never make it into the history books.people who are filled with all the things that make humanity great.gentle , kind , merciful people full of love.people who refuse to hate.people who bear their pain with a smile which belies their suffering.ordinary people.in every corner of the world.

they are everywhere and we dont see them.why ? because they are the quiet people.

it is in all of us.

we are boundless.we are limitless.we are the stuff of dreams.our reach goes beyond the stars.our spirit transcends this universe.

PEACE

LOVE.

"One is Evil. It is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

I think the next ten years is up to us.

If it sucks, its cause we failed, not only us here at the thc ministry, but including us. We not only failed ourselves, but our children and grandchildren as well. The state of the world will be our fault. even now.

We have no Bush to blame, no relgion, no american government. Its our fault all this is going on. You, me, the rest of the ministry, everyone else in the world who feels like we do. We have failed to let our voices be heard. We constantly blame others, but the blame really lies with us. We simply havent done as much as the other side.

Our actions will determine the events of the next ten years. If we let people get away with destroying the world as we know it, then we must take the blame as well.

I think we talk too much about the things wrong with the world here, and dont take enough action. Regardless of what you may believe, it only takes one voice to be heard and change the world.

In short, the answer to your question, Areo, my man, is that it is totally and 100% up to us where our world goes. Us meaning me, you, and the rest of the ministry. We have a platform, we have a voice, we need to act upon it.

Imagine ten years from now, if weed is legal, poor people are fed, governments arent corrupted, no wars, and innocent people dont die.

think its impossible? its not.

AMEN! Cool

Wow. You cut to the chase like a surgeon, Z. For the first time in history we the Little People have the power to make our voices heard. With the internet we have the power to educate ourselves and our "communities", we can make a difference. One person can change the tide, as Cindy Sheehan and El Capitan Pendajo from Casa Blanca have recently shown us. One for the better, the other for the worse.

Like Q's signature line says, (I'll paraphrase here), There are two wolves battling within each of us. One good, one evil. Which one wins depends upon which one you feed.

I'll keep that in mind next time I'm tempted to feed the evil wolf by giving the finger to somebody over something stoopid, like bad driving.

One more thing I would like to add here. Wars do not just happen. They are planned, and the planners think about war night and day. In other words, wars come from the imagination. They are dreamed before they happen. Is it possible we can become obsessed with peace, justice, and liberty?

I'm dividing my obsession between imaging myself as a better man, and imaging Señior Pendajo, his posse, and the Invisibles behind the scenes being brought to justice before the sheet hits the fan.

Thanks for the wake-up call Zero, I was floating away. And yes, I too think the future is in our hands. To drag us down is probably the thought that wathever we do as individuals, things will go their way regardless. So, why bother? My father told me at my age he used to talk as I do now, I actually remember him being different in the past. He gave up. It's far too blissfull to live life day after day without having worries.

We probably cannot afford to just live and try to make the best out of our lives, while I feel this is a right and should be given for granted.

There are several ways the future can go, some are more likely than others. But I don't see it going well.
