Hey Ferre I was sending some mails earlier and I got the idea of a THC-Ministry´s mail. What is the chance of it? to have an email server like hotmail or other.
I have hotmail and although it is fine I think, it belongs to Microsoft and that is where the problem starts, they are too powerful and not very nice, and having a Ministry´s mail would be great don´t you think. Is it possible someday? |

Hmm.
Well, not in the near future, maybe some day, setting up a mail server has a financial picture and needs technical maintenance. Would be nice though. _________________ █ Please read the Board Rules and Posting, and you

I think* that i know some one who would be able to host a mail server for us, but it would require a monthly fee for the email... some wheres around $3-$5 a month i think...
I havn't talked to him in awhile, but he runs his own hosting company, if there is enough intrest, and the owner of the thc-ministry.net domain name would approve it ill ask him for a price quote |

We have a mailserver and could give email addresses out for $3-$5 a month, that's not a problem at all technically but we are not doing this. We also have a very good relationship with our host who is a personal friend of the owner of the thc-ministry.net domain, (who happens to be myself) and there's no need to talk to third parties about our mail server, that's all taken care of.
Machete's question was about 'free email' like hotmail accounts and as I said, at present times we have no plans for this at all, there are other priorities that come first on our "to do" list. It is something to keep in mind though and as soon as I have a little more time on my hands (I'm building a few other websites at the moment) I'll check what's all needed to set up such a service. _________________ █ Please read the Board Rules and Posting, and you

Thanks, two of these sites I'm doing are phpNuke btw, and it doesn't provide you with a web based email address, it just lets you receive your email at your phpnuke account, web based, when you have an existing pop3 account. It takes a little more to set up unlimited email addresses with some space. Finding the software, either php or anything else is no problem, installing it isn't a problem either but we simple do not have the funds to provide this at the moment. Imagine the run we would get on thc-ministry email addresses, only a few thousand with as little as 10mb space would already costs us an amount of money (hosting, bandwidh, maintenance) that is needed for other things that are more important. The only reason you can get free email addresses on the internet is because those companies live on advertisements, the free email address you get is only to get you to see all those adds every day when you check your mail, without adds it's very expensive to run such a service and I don't want to get into the advertisement busyness and run banner adds on our site, after all, we are a ministry.
With a little luck I can find some sponsoring for it in the future, as I said before, we have other priorities at the moment. _________________ █ Please read the Board Rules and Posting, and you
