What do you think john meant by this song? I mean, he spoke out against all religion and all patriotism, which alot of people think to be good for us, and showed us how bad they have been for us. He was a great poet, and musician, and he was speaking to us. here are some fo the lyrics
Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
living for today...
Imagine there's no countries,
It isn't hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace...
Imagine no possessions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of men,
imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...
You may say I'm a dreamer,
but I'm not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one..
I, personally, think he spoke more profound words than any of the prophets.
if we would have only listened to him.................. _________________ www.shoutwire.com

I think he was a wise man...if not a prophet.
Only time will tell.....

That’s one of my favorite songs. But don’t be so quick to think he’s speaking against religion...
To me he’s asking "imagine" if we weren’t separated by our different views, opinions, borders and wealth. How we could then be equal and at peace. Or perhaps more importantly Imagine we still have all those things, and yet still find the wisdom to unite in peace and brotherhood.
Its a great song. And its a message of hope and possibility. I don’t think its got any part in it that speaks against anything. No, I think instead of speaking out against anything... the message is to accept all differences and still accept each other despite them. Accept as though there were no differences, even though they exist.

Yea, I listened & heard him. It made a difference to myself & those around me.
I remember the moment I heard the news of his assassination; it brought me to tears and I usually don't weep easily.
