Obviously I was mad when I saw this, but a big shit eating grin went across my face when I read:
"Such a showing could be made only with evidence that exposes how the CIA organizes, staffs and supervises its most sensitive intelligence operations."
How does it feel now, huh? Oh, I thought it was "If you have nothing to hide, then what's the problem?" _________________ "It's really amazing for me to see the ripples in the pond caused by casting a few pebbles" -Aeroplane

They might not get sued in the US, but Italy and Germany have court cases against the CIA for kidnapping and torturing.
Italy has provided a list with names of CIA operatives that are wanted for custody, until the trials start.
Needless to say that the USA is not cooperative. _________________ █ Please read the Board Rules and Posting, and you

In the Khalid al-Masri case it is disputed at which extent German authorities cooperated with the CIA, at a minimum the Schröder government agreed to a coverup one year before it impeached itself. Recently American media have published details about the CIA thugs.*
In the Murat Kurnaz case the release of the detainee was delayed for several years, while the CIA tried to intimidate him into undercover work. It is assumed that the spooks still disagree whether he would have been of any use to them, but as a result of such disagreements their unsuccessful recruitment attempt lasted years.
Methinks the best way to get these two cases out of the bureaucratic quagmire would be if Schröders key official for spook action would resign from his current post as Foreign Minister. My impression is that among the spooks the right hand does no longer know what the leaft hand does, and big scandal is simmering in the confused silence before the storm. |
