For some reason they didn't like me reminding them of my Open Letter over at UK420 and they deleted all my posts and those who replied to them as well. _________________ Never Trust A Hippie !

Viper,
This is the only site that allows freedom of speech, as long as you don't abuse the host, (and quite rightly so, we can all bugger off if we want to.)
So, post them here brother, you never know someone else apart from me might read it. |

This is from EDIT Forums started Monday.
------------------------------------------------------------
Right folken,
after last years thourghly deplorable farse, still to be explained, it is more than understandable that certain exhibitors decided not to have any involvement this year.
Who could blame them.
However, with just five days left to the event it seems that this year its really going to take place.
I've just been looking over the official site. The first thing I notice is how restrictive the information is.
Travel information is displayed in a format so small it is unreadable without some type of magnification.
Telford, you got to wonder why they chose this location, because looking at the map it isn't so easy to get to. Coming by road from Liverpool its all 'A' roads and no motorways.
Trains I'm going to have to check on.
Some of the Amsterdam folk are coming over, but the big thing I notice is how the same sponsors, and winners, of the ICMag 2007 420 Cup are also the same sponsors of this event.
Big business is taking over control of the events principal functions. The first U.K. Hemp Festival was a celebration of spiritual unity that brought a lot of people who had only ever spoken to each other on the phone face to face for the first time. It was all about meeting each other and feeling the strength of our community.
The second event was more business orientated, no question, and Arjan was lurking around making notes and preparing to pounce.
Well, now Arjan's running High Times, ICMag/420 Cups and now Weed World and OUR U.K. Hemp Fair.
Reports from Amsterdam say that as soon as it became public knowledge that Arjan was involved with the 420 Cups, interest in the event from past attendees nose dived.
Indeed, during the weekend event - said by many to be a rip off - a hard core majority group of attendees boycotted the 420 Cup events one day in favour of a trip over to Haarlem and a smoke with Nol.
These were the real hard core ICMag forum folk. Ones that generally give me a lot of stick. I'm told,
"Everybody was trying very hard to be positive and ignore the green and yellow stripped elephant on a unicycle that was in the room."
With few attendees and even fewer participants every contender in the 420 Cups won something. Was it a coincidence that they just happened to be the sponsors of the event too ?
Consider this; as members of the cannabis community we need to present ourselves in a positive way. Do we really want to have our presentation of our community to be under the control of a man who has bribed and rigged and bullshitted himself into the self proclaimed title 'The King Of Cannabis' ?
His rigging of the Cannabis Cup has utterly destroyed that events credability. His involvement in this years 420 Cups caused the event to collapse on itself and sparked a rebellion of its most loyal supporters.
Right now I'm asking myself what I should expect if I decide to go.
I won't expect to see any recognition nor mention of the single most important counter culture personality of this country, on who's ground breaking and pioneering literature, music, and paraphinalia the entire event is based on. www.leeharris.co.uk
Howard Marks wouldn't be here without him.
I will expect advertizing overkill from Greenhouse.
I will expect Greehouse/Arjan to be awarded some bogus award.
I could go on and on and on .............. but I have other things in my life to tend to.
This is supposed to be our event, our festival, - us tokers, blowers, runners and growers. Its about us, because without us Phil from Weed World and Arjan from Greenhouse would both be out of work.
In any society those who are able to shape history through the course of events obtain status and power. Unfortunately they are so wrapped up in their own inward and insular ways these events instead of becoming celebrations of the spirit reflect only the base desires for fame, fortune, power and glory.
If Arjan/Greenhouse, Dampkring and Barney's have there way we're going to end up with supermarket like packaged pot of a supermarket quality sold from a franchise chain.
If you go, make sure you let Phil and the team at Weed World stand know how you feel about it.
This is your community. Be active in it.
If you don't represent YOUR opinion, no one else is going to do it for you.
While I decide to go or not and look into the logistics it would be nice to see how many of you intend going this weekend.
So, who's going ?

Just been looking over the Ehibitors List/Map.
They have 159 availible stands.
The stands are diferent sizes and cover varying floor space.
Prices are £75.00 per Sq Meter
Minumum floor space = 9 SqM £793.12
So, thats
159 - 6 unsold stands x £793.12
= £121,347.36 minimum
Remember some of the stands are diferent sizes and you have to be looking at over £150,000.00 minimum, on floor space alone.
You have to figure that they're doing pretty well from 'sponsorship money' too, not to mention whatever they have pulled in from folks advertizing in the magazine and such.
Then they'll be making £5.00 per head on the door.
So you have to guess a figure of around £250,000.00 minimum.
Now, lets say running costs and other expenses come to £95,000.00
That still puts them in front by around £155,000.00 which would wipe out last years £80,000 bill for a non-event.
In fact they would still be up around £75,000.00
Just something to ponder on .................

Are you Ok or would you like some support.
I have read what you wrote, and even though you went straight to the point, I felt that it was important to you to know, but I just assumed that the people we put into power, decided to use their gift to attack those who wish to live a peaceful life.
Phone you, but that will cost 30p, you seem to think highly of yourself.
Can't wait to buy you a coffee!!!!!!! |

Thanks for the report bro, I see that I didn't miss much, is it just me or do I notice an overall decline regarding the atmosphere? You definately noticed and it becomes even more visible when reading all your reports from the past years in a row. (which is highly entertaining btw and I recommend it to everyone) _________________
