Two Degrees of Separation and The War on Drugs

Today we have just gotten through celebrating the birth of this great nation and Its a time for contemplation. The political season is well upon us now with an early and it seems a very intense race for the nomination for presidential races in both party. Just what are the issues at stake.

The war in Iraq, out of control immigration, poor education and the health care crisis, what is a common factor in all of this. Believer it or not it is the war on drugs. and to be more precise its the war on cannabis.

You might think how did you come to these conclusions.Well the simplicity of it all evades our best political leaders who fear talking about the subject in a rational matter for fear of being seen as being soft on crime.

If you take time to stop and think you may come to the same conclusions that i have. The war in Iraq is not about protecting American freedom at all. It is about profits for the oil company's. So what does this have to do with the war on cannabis.Well way back when Ford first began producing his Model he also began producing a fuel for it. It was made from hemp. yes that's right hemp, cannabis. It was made of thirty percent hemp oil and seventy percent methanol [ wood alcohol] made from fermented hemp stalks. He also experimented with making car bodies from hemp and flax that was stronger and lighter than steel.

In 1936 Popular Mechanics published an article entitled The next Billion dollar crop.It detailed the extensive uses of hemp.Products made from hemp included textiles ,plastics ,varnishes and paint . In other words any thing that can be made from oil can be made from hemp.

So how does this war on drugs effect these other issues of education , immigration and health care. Well for one the cost of enforcement takes money out of the system for enforcement for the non crimes of drug procession and sells. Some estimates go as high as seventy billion dollars a year in combined State and Federal for enforcement and incarceration. It makes a plant that our own government say they can produce for some thirty cents a pound so profitable that it sell from some eighty to over five hundred dollars an ounce.

Once you legalize and regulated the sales of all drugs you eliminated a source of income for the street dealer. This will encourage people to take those jobs that the Government says Americans don't want to do.And this in its self will help stem the flow of the illegal immigrants into this country. It will also increase the tax base to help fund health care and education.

I will be honest with you the end of the drug war wont cure all the ills of the nation but it will go a long way to helping improve things for the better

Remember y'all let yer voices be heard vote and support those who would end this senseless war on drugs and humanity.

Interesting take on things, but increasing the tax base doesn't help anything. Not one red cent of your taxes goes to fund schools, police, fire, roads, medicare, or any of the other programs you think it does. Your tax dollars are nowhere near enough to even pay the interest on the money loaned to our government by the federal reserve.

Cannabis can fix a lot of what's wrong, but taxing it isn't beneficial to anyone but international bankers.

Police officers acquitted for beating a 64 yr old man recently in New Orleans. In the words of their defense attorney "all he had to do was comply"....and they wouldn't have fractured his face.

I was referring to the added income taxes that would come from legitemate jobs not a tax on drugs. I do realize that we at present are borrowing nearly 2 billon a day from China. And at the same time it is getting imperaive to end the for profit health insurance and hospital industries. There is just something immoral about making a profit from the suffering of the ill.You may be correct but all the money that is wasted on Drug law enforcment and housing of drug war POWs plus the taxes that will arise when street dealers no longer have their untaxable incomes from street sales is no longer available. Of course it is not a panacea for all the ills of society but it can go a long way in helping. When Americans find that the easy money from street drug sales is no longer available they will be forced to take those jobs that no one wants today it will help then to stem the tide of illegals who do come and take these jobs. But on the other hand many of the jobs that illegals are taking are in industries that have fed familys in America for decades such as construction and low paying jobs in factories.

LOL I live in South Carolina in an area that has seen unemployment rates in the 20% range since the 80S. The pay is so low that even the Mexicans don't want the jobs that are available. My last job was as a skilled tradesman and the starting pay was $8.25 an hour and topped out at $9.00 and cost of living raised were on 1.3% anually. There was an is A turnover rate there thats in double digits. And there is a waiting line for these few poor jobs where you may well have to work 12hours a day for seven days a week just to bring home less than a grand a month. So whats the incentive for taking these jobs when street dealing can make a kid a grand a week.
