|
|
Definition of "terrorism" from Princeton;
http://wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn?s=terrorism
| Quote: |
Noun
S: (n) terrorism, act of terrorism, terrorist act (the calculated use of violence (or the threat of violence) against civilians in order to attain goals that are political or religious or ideological in nature; this is done through intimidation or coercion or instilling fear) |
For centuries we humans have been told that we will burn in hell for ever and ever when we don't join certain religions and submit to certain doctrines, isn't it about time to name the people and organisations that do this for what they are; terrorists? _________________

Sounds like terrorism to me, but I'm an american and apparently we can label anything or anyone as a terrorist on a whim! _________________ -Brother Adam (we are all one family)

Hello there,I have just joined up and have been looking around to see what you are all passionate about. I do not like to be a lurker, so thought I would pass an opinion.
Isn't it part of the human condition to have to choose again and again between Love and Fear? it seems obvious that where ever and whenever people organise, that organisation will be full of people drawn one way or the other. The organisation, religious or secular, can include those who are motivated by Love, those who both use fear and feel fearful, and those (who are most of us,) having the intention to be motivated by Love alone, but actually having to struggle every day not to feed the fear in us and in others.
Identifying the fear mongers and being part of a global discussion about their methods and madness is a good thing, a political thing.Being willing to return love for fear, just sometimes,in prayer, meditation , sacrament, conversation,is vibrationally transformative, another good thing, a spiritual thing. I have encountered folk from all major and many fringe religions who have critiqued the fundamentalist right in their own organisation/history..........often in their own families, which is tough.
and people often leave their birth religion because of the terrorism they experience, and find love in another religion that others have left for the same reason.
so I can see that some people use the fundamentalist fear..you'll burn baby burn..as a terrorist tactic, and the war on terror has been used by our govts as a terrorising tactic...and the folk who feel the power of fear sometimes seem to get more of what they want than us love and peaceniks..but hey Love is always greater than fear..that's a great cosmic law..so keep stokin up that love guys.. this aint the time to stop! For me,life on earth is both heaven and hell..which is why using our sacrament is so important, abit more heaven to help us keep lookin at what needs raising up from those firey pits to see the light .
blessings from my bit of heaven and hell to yours

I can agree with that. Heaven and hell are only a state of mind, not a real place.

Thanks all of you for warm welcome..what a relief!
Ive spent a lot of years working on Middle-East peace lists, where its often hard to say hello without incurring outrage..bless.
Mallory Jade.. obviously no good making out that as a well adapted professional type,I am at peace on an entirely natural high then?
Of course in the UK like the States we are subjected to collective punishment via the war on drugs for daring to keep jumpin out of that box.
That kind of makes Amsterdam a lifelong promised land that doesn't terrorise me for my preferences.
I think we understand each other Brother Adam,I used to be very uncomfortable with the idea that anyone should be at peace with so much suffering in the world. I started life in a socialist and atheist family who worked hard on social justice issues..religion was the opiate of the masses.. bliss ninying for selfish reasons. It was all very negative in a martyred kind of way, being happy was a secular sin.Solidarity with the suffering poor, sharing the hell, as if we could..was the right thing to do.
Even when I went thru my own spiritual breakdown/breakthru it took me years to get my head straight with my heart. It was studying Buddhism
and especially using some meditations from Tibet, in which I had to reach out to every person in every situation of suffering my feverish brain could imagine, and attempt to empathise, experience and let go. It used to take me about an hour each time and I kept it up for about six months, by which time it had become a bit second nature. It helped me to move past some of my guilt at my own good fortune and got me into the habit of offering Hell up to the light when I realise I am clinging on and terrorising myself with the bad. When I get weary of watching the news and keeping up with the bad in the world I use the meditation to strengthen my resolve.. and the sacrament helps too.
yes I AM WORDY, a few years will chill me to one liners I am sure.
So.. this thread was obviously started to get at something more?
since I dont know where you have all already been with each other I am not sure which way to go? Over to you Ferre _________________ frost, stars

Five kids? Who in their right mind would have five kids? If I could take it back, I wouldn't have five kids either, lol! _________________ -Brother Adam (we are all one family)
