Study: No damage from marijuana
NEW YORK, May 8 (UPI) -- In a preliminary study, U.S. researchers failed to find damage to the developing adolescent brain had occurred in those who had used marijuana moderately.
Lynn DeLisi and colleagues from the Nathan S. Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research and New York University School of Medicine used diffusion tensor imaging to scan the brain of 10 young people who had smoked cannabis during adolescence.
The participants were between 17 and 30 years old, and they said they had smoked at least two to three times a week for one or more years during adolescence and had no personal or family history of mental-health problems.
The study subjects were matched for sex, age and social class of parents with 10 controls who had not smoked marijuana regularly as teenagers.
DeLisi and colleagues found no significant differences in brain integrity and brain volume between cannabis smokers and non-smokers, but the study authors warn more research is necessary, both in a larger group of people and to see the effects of heavier use.
The findings are published in Harm Reduction Journal.

Funny how in the article on United Press international the headline states: "Study: Little damage from marijuana"
"Little" would indicate that there is "little" amount of damage, however, the research report states that; "DeLisi and colleagues found no significant differences in brain integrity and brain volume between cannabis smokers and non-smokers"
So the "press" is turning a research result which has found nothing into "little".
This is another clear example of how results are disregarded and even misinterpreted by the mainstream press in order to give a false image and demonize hemp/Cannabis _________________ █ Please read the Board Rules and Posting, and you

Absolutely!
We've got more that just the world's governments working against us.
The press has the power to change the minds of the public with 'misinformation' like in the example shown above, and not even the government can do that by themselves anymore.
In other words, most people have given up on believing the lies of the U.S. Government, whereas the majority still believe the lies being told them by the press.
I'd call it the "Outsourcing of Propaganda", and it's no different than hiring government contractors to do the dirty work of war.
The U.S. Gov has it down to a science.
Excuse me ... I must go throw up now.

To be fair, it isn't objective to base results off of 10 people.
A more conclusive study with more participants would yield a better, and more trustworthy estimate.
I could see people who are against Cannabis read this and say.........
10 People?
Come on...... |
