Greetings. I was just curious as to whether any of the members have ever taken the pastoral counseling course offered by ULC? It's otherwise known as the Soul Clinic Course. I've been taking it, and am almost done with the assingment portion. The course grants a lisence from the church to pracitce pastoral counseling with the legal backing of the ULC. Technically, of course, in most states, any ordained minister can perform pastoral counseling. This just gives added protection from the church in case things go awry or something.
It's a fairly interesting course, though a bit dated (one question in a certain assingment asks what your opinion is of the Women's Lib movement), having been developed in the early 70's. It's based heavily on humanism, transactional analysis, and client centered therapy (Rogers), with an overall holisitic approach. Just wondered if anyone else here had ever taken the course. Peace.

Interesting. I didn't take that course but I guess it's a good experience. I can also recommend the course on Shamanism at ulc ceminaries, it's written by Rev. Roger L. Poole, one of our members. _________________ █ Please read the Board Rules and Posting, and you

Greetings, Ferre. Thanks for the head's up on the seminary course.
I went and checked out the seminary courses after your recommendation. Soul Clinic course is offered via the main ULC site, and for some odd reason, doesn't seem to be part of the seminary curriculum. In any case, I had no idea that the ULC seminary was growing as it has been; they have a few courses that look intriguing.
And certainly, the program in Shamanism looks top notch. However, the seminary page says that the course has been 'temporarily discontinued.'
Oddly, on another page, they say that two shamanism courses will be available within the next month or two. I dropped them an email, inquiring as to when the shamanism course might be available again.
It certainly would be a very rewarding experience to take a course designed by one of the ministry members. Thanks again. Peace.
