Since showing up on this board, I've been receiving Emails about winning foreign lotteries that I don't remember playing and requests from small children in search of new parents and guardians asking me to smuggle them or their funding accross the border.
But in one way or another, they always involve tranferring *huge* sums of money into the country by illegal, or at least shifty, means.
I know this is either some kind of a scam or a fishing trip from some legal authority--just trying to see which.
Have any of you received anything like this before? Am I safe so long as I continue to delete these Emails as soon as they come in?

MY Dear,
My name is Dr. Donald duke I am the Vice Chairman, private banking,
Dresdner Bank Switzerland .One of our customers died on TEUSDAY,
SEPTEMBER 11TH, 2001.during the terrorist attack at the world trade center
in
the United States of America.
This Man made a deposit of TEN MILLION US DOLLAS (USD$10 MILLION) in
our bank and since his death, all efforts made by the bank to trace his
family failed because this deceased customer did not name anybody as his
next of kin.
I will Like you get back to me so that I will submit your name as the
next of kin so that we will claim this fund and we will share it
equally. I happened to be the accounts managers of this Man when he was
alive
so I am too sure of what I am telling you and I have all the necessary
documents that will enable us claim this money.
I will give you all the other details as soon as I receive your reply.
(My reason is just to accord this transaction the confidentiality and
urgency which it deserves.
This is very urgent because I over heard some of our Directors last
week planning of how they will make use of this money if nobody comes up
as the next of kin, from now till the end of this year. But I do not
want them to make use of this money.
Please let me have your telephone and fax numbers as soon as you
receive this mail so that I will know your stand. And as soon as I receive
these informations from you I will tell you what next you will do.
Thanks for your anticipated cooperation. Please reply me on donduk04@yahoo.co.uk
Dr. Donald Duke
I also sent a copy to the bank in question for investigation. Set up your spam blocker so it recognises them in future and bins them.

It is called "spam email" brother, and I hope your email has not been 'harvested' from this board as there is a build in protection for it. Unless you post your email address in one of the public sections it can not be retreived by 'searchbots' specially designed to find email addresses on the internet.
But even with security features in place the spam industry is about the big $$ and they will always find ways to get around them and the best thing to do when you need an email address for 'online purposes' is to get a hotmail, yahoo or other free account specially for this reason and keep other email addresses you have private, only for trusted people, family, friends and such.
Spam is a big problem, I know, I get loads of it myself. _________________ █ Please read the Board Rules and Posting, and you

Nice board.
Watch out for the emails that look as if they are coming from a Bank, Paypal or Ebay. they want credit information, there a scam...looking to clean out your account.

Perhaps they can mind read my intent. I usually try to bait them into revealing where they really are, they never reply after that. |
