very good work there, lilli.
except the animal sacrafices are a part I dont subscribe to anymore. I can see how it would be used in the old days as a sort of payment, offering as the xtians did in the beggining of the bible, but nowadays there is simply no need for it.
I practice alone and peacefully, without harming any of the creatures of the earth.
My offerings are simple, to Yemaya, I give her sweet bread, throw it in a river, and her sister Oshun takes it to her.
Elegua likes cigars. I burn one for him three times a week. I've found he also likes Cannibis. Mixing a bit in with a cigar I make myself makes him happy I believe.
I believe in the old wiccan adage of "do what you will but harm none" Hopefully, these pics of elegua will come out and you all can share in some of the beauty of the religion. _________________ www.shoutwire.com

Yemaya is the Mother of the earth and the oceans are her powers.
Elegua is a happy spirit, the most powerfull. No real religous significance, just some nice pics of my Orishas _________________ www.shoutwire.com

Personally, I beleive any one who thinks their religion is 100% right is a fool. I think we have much to learn from each other as well as others.
My religion has a tradition of bieng very secretive, for survival purposes, and Im probably the only one you will find who will share some of those with others.
for more info on my religion, check this site, its very informative.
http://w3.iac.net/~moonweb/Santeria/TOC.html
My personal Orishas are Elegua and Yemaya. Our religion is based on love, but there are those who use it for bad purposes.
I don't subscribe completely to my own religion, i feel some points are wrong, and I also have other beliefs.
Im not here to preach my religion, i will answer questions, but im here for tolerance and the good herb. I hope my brothers and sisters here will take a few minutes of their time to learn a bit about santeria, as I will any of your respective religions. |
Welcom friend(actually you've been longer than me). I love studying all religions and sacred scriptures, and therefore am glad to meet someone of the few who practice Santeria.

truly after reading the rest of this thread I must say, Santeria is a beautiful manifestation of the perrenial philosophy. Thank you Lilli just from what you posted, I have seen that this religion contains many valuable insights and views.
My own learnings could be somewhat described as Thelama/Islam/Gnosticism/Buddhist/Taoist/ influenced. One of the primary joys I've experienced on the Path is learning about other paths and communing with the people on those paths.
