We didn't make back everything we spent on the concert--but we came close. A few weeks ago we received word of a $2500 donation. We received the first $500 installment of it the day of the concert, $300 of which went to the concert itself: beer & food for the artists, and use of the stage. A third donor is covering the stage rental and we collected another $30 from the door.

Everyone had a great time and our network has grown. The bar wants us back in six months, so if we can get a steady crew behind advertising it and getting it a little more organized I think we can turn this into something wonderful.

Please visit the website (http://members.cox.net/pateticus/) or drop me a line to be more involved.

The important thing now is to stay focused. The school and youth outreach program is growing. We were two students as of last week and are soon to acquire 2 more. These kids are going to need a place to play.

Therefore, the remaining $2000 in donations and everything we made at the concert is going into one of two projects:

An Art Bus that will be used to get our artists and students to new places to learn and perform or an inexpensive property somewhere in Lakewood, Ohio City or Cleveland which will be used for gallery space and performances.

Either way, watch for an announcement regarding our base of operations soon. In the meantime, I have a youth outreach program to run and papers to grade. The children will be taking up most of my time from here on out and it would be handy if we had more volunteers for the night-time activities such as drum circles and rock concerts.

We are also in need of a new and more reliable Event Coordinator and PR Person. These are paid positions that will require some sense of devotion, patience, tolerance and skill. For more information on how to be more involved, please drop me an Email.

I would like to thank all the brave and generous people that have contributed to this project so far. We couldn't have done it without you. This only seems like an uphill struggle because we're the first to do this in a long, long time. The road still needs to be cleared of generations of accumulated clutter before we can use it.

Rest assured that because we're going through this now and sharing everything we've learned along the way, we're making it easier for anyone coming this way after us.

This can only get better.

quick question.

How can you expect anyone here to take you seriously when you dont respond to any thread you dont create yourself?

How can I expect to represent a singular devotion to what I'm doing if I allow myself to be distracted by other people's posts and what other people think?

I include my Email and webpage address with every post I make. I'm not twisting any arms here, I'm just talking about what I'm doing. Whenever I talk about anything else I get insulted, jumped on and ignored.

Quite frankly, I don't really have the time to spend posting to webboards and answering Emails that have nothing to do with anything I'm doing.

If anyone wants to be involved enough to want to take me seriously, the next step is opening the lines of communication. And the only one that can do that is you--all my information is there.

i dont know zero thats a little harsh man.

it seems to me that he feels a little uncomfortable or out of place & is trying to stay in a comfortable spot & not make waves.

i think he shows hes with us by posting of his endeavors here for us to see his example.

glad to hear of your success with the show.

On the contrary, it is you that is not with me. I've been here all along posting about this project and how it's going. I don't want anyone along with me that doesn't share the same singular devotion because I (and this ministry) cannot afford to be put aside for people's personal lives, individual hangups and short comings.

I don't interpret anything I've said as putting me anywhere above you. I gather, it is you that feel you are below me.

What I mean by saying I don't have the time to respond to unrelated webboards and emails is exactly that: I don't have the time to spend behind a computer.

I'm doing more with my time now, do you understand that?

If you're not interested in coming along you shouldn't be complaining about getting left behind.

Hello out there in cannaland,

Aloha. Thanks for the news P. Brother zero, why so harsh to a cannabis brother? Brother Pateticus is on a somewhat different path as the individual that he is and that's ok, even good in my opinion. We're not creating clones here, at least not human ones.

zero, please consider the possibility of giving the man a break and a pat on the back for the good he does. Is he reflecting anything within you personally with his behavior?

Name-calling is pretty low and not tolerated by me, bro. I request that you apologize to the guy right here on the thread. I thank you in advance for cleaning it up. Mahalo.

He's got a dream and he's on a peaceful mission of harmony and festivity as far as I can tell. Go man, go! We've had our differences with brother P in the past that were pretty well discussed in depth. I'm good with it now and I was hoping that you were, too.

Remember, we're a ministry, not a fight club. Thanks.

My 2 cents.

All the best to everyone on this full moon night!

Roger

Maybe I was a bit harsh on p, and maybe your right roger, maybe it was some sort of reflection on myself. Im not really sure at this stage of the game. Ive kind of been on edge lately and Im sure the alcohol doesnt help.

Brother P, I have to say I did act pretty immature with a few of those posts, and I sure as hell could have worded whatever gripe I had with you at the time a lot better. You've done good work with your piece of the ministry, a damn sight better than what I've done with mine. Ill admit, sometimes im not a nice person, and I can be very much wrong in those instances. This was one of those times. Im not too happy with my posts myself. I really should have handled myself better. P, Im sorry for the harshness and bad vibes. Theres no way I should judge you off a few words on a discussion board.

Just saying it is pretty weak though, actions speak louder than words, so im gonna have a self imposed week long ban from the boards. It is now 4:42 mountain time april 25. I will not allow myself to post on the boards until exactly a week from now.

PostPosted: Mon May 02, 2005 12:11 pm    Post subject: What actions are possible? Reply with quote

I'm sorry it took so long to respond, I haven't been receiving any Emails from the ministry about any updates to the thread.

Thank you for the gracious apologies and votes of confidence. I'm glad for your supportive words and encouragement.

Honestly and truly, I look at everything on the internet as nothing more than words. Nothing I do here can be proven or disproven, nothing that appears on the internet really means anything because it can be so quickly deleted, updated, manipulated, misread and forgotten.

You're right, actions do speak louder...but actions are not possible on the internet and the internet takes up too much time.

The kids in the youth outreach keep me occupied pretty much all day and then I have the fundraising and grown-up networking that I do at night. I'm mostly left with Saturdays and Sundays to myself (when I'm lucky, which is when I do most of my posting) and then I'm left with the occasional hour or so in the morning over my coffee where I can do the rest that comes to mind.

I have batteries in my camera and we're looking at real estate already--both rentals and purchases as more potential donors and volunteers seem to come out of the woodwork every day--so you'll be able to at least see more of what we're doing.

But even then...there's no way to prove the pictures are really me and of places that really exist. Nothing on this world-wide-web of deceit and illusion really has any merit, because it can all be considered circumspect. The only real evidence I would feel comfortable providing you with is face-to-face, and neither of us is capable of achieving that yet.

Getting true believers in the same place at the same time on a regular enough basis to be able to build something with it has been my biggest barrier. I shrug it off as just a part of Cleveland--there's been a wedge (several wedges) dividing communities around here lately and I'm fighting a lot of stigma, ignorance and short-sightedness. But if others have the same problem, then there may be more to it.

My only hope is that with everything I'm doing I can make it easier for other people to build ministries of their own.

I can only keep talking until someone decides to listen and take action on their own.

Like the song says...
"Give it Away Give it Away Give it Away Now..."
