Breast feeding is bad!
http://www.mercola.com/2001/dec/12/breast_milk.htm
| Quote: |
A new class of toxic chemicals has been discovered in breast milk, in human blood, in food, in remote rural air, in wild fish, and in the sewage sludge being applied as fertilizer on food crops across the U.S.
A Canadian health official recently summed up the discovery saying, "This stuff is everywhere."[1]
The newly-discovered contaminants are brominated flame retardants. Bromine is a highly-reactive chemical element, a halogen in the same class as chlorine and iodine.
Worldwide, eight chemical corporations manufacture about 300 million pounds of brominated fire retardants each year, of which about 80 million pounds are members of the class known as polybromo diphenyl ethers, or PBDEs.[2]
Although all brominated fire retardants seem capable of creating environment and health problems, here we will focus on PBDEs, which leach into the environment from the plastics in appliances, TVs and computers, foam in upholstery, and the fabrics of carpets and draperies. Many hard styrene plastics and many foam padding materials are 5% to 30% PBDE by weight.
Like their cousin PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls), many PBDEs persist for years in the environment, accumulate in the food chain and concentrate in fatty tissues. A recent survey of the PBDE literature revealed that some PBDEs can cause cancer, interfere with hormones, and disrupt normal growth and development |

Whenever I use the terms 'over-processed' or 'refined' carbohydrates, I am primarily referring to sugar. Too much of this stuff is just downright BAD! You should get your sugars from the foods that you eat in their natural forms - from fruits, veggies, and grains. And take it easy on the grains. Grains, beans, and potatoes contain antinutrients - lectins - small specialized proteins that are produced by the plant to interfere with animals eating them. These things are even more dangerous than sugars! They don't just feed cancer cells, they promote the formation of cancer cells. Some will strip your gastro tract of its mucus lining - so you will pass more of the seeds undigested. Most stimulate pancreatic action, affect insulin and adrenalin production, and therefore are linked to the onset of diabetes and other disorders. Do a search for lectins on the web. Stick to natural foods, eat more veggies and fruit, don't be afraid of eating meat, avoid concentrated foods, avoid food additives, drink juices, use herbs, practice moderation in all things, and be happy. _________________ Rollme-wan Mordoobie, the Redeyed Jedi

Fish is an excellent source for your omega EFAs. Concerning EFAs and other fatty substances, the proper balance is what is important. Avoid fried foods, but but don't think you must exclude them. Just make sure that you fry your foods properly - proper heat (hot enough and don't overcrowd) and oil that is digestable and high in good cholestorol. Eat more olive oil. Have a glass of wine or beer daily. No more than about 25% of your diet should be non-veggie. 5 to 15% of your diet can be meat. (animal protein) No more than 50% of your meat should be red. I do not advocate substituting beans for all of your meat. Grain, beans, and potatoes carry as many health risks as red meats, just not the same ones. The risks involved just aren't the ones that popular on talk shows and trade mags ...... yet. Within the next 10 years, we will see more Dr.s who are willing to tell us about them. (HINT: Pay attention to the Dr.s who are into longevity research.) _________________ Rollme-wan Mordoobie, the Redeyed Jedi
