that profound statement is so true and so relevant to our times.

while it is true that the Christian church , as an organisation did try to remove any signs of the past , such as building their churches right on top of ancient sacred sites , in a strange way they also absorbed those ancient religious beliefs into themselves.

in Ireland for example , those most civilised of people , the Celts , almost absorbed Christianity! the Irish were the first people in the western world to have writen laws.those laws guaranteed the right to life of EVERY living thing.even a bee was given the same fundamentel , basic rights as a man.every tree , animal , insect , well , spring , river , mountain etc... etc .. was respected because it contained a living spirit , just like every man , woman , and child.

the point is , everything was respected because the law of the land demanded it.so , over the years that attitude became the normal way to be.it was normal to take great care not to harm any 'living' spiritual entity.

our lack of respect in this age is born of the fact that a whole different attitude is being rammed down our throats today.all the majour institutions are drunk on greed and power and are teaching us to see the living earth as something we must consume.something we must devour.

it is like we are feasting on our own mother.it is obscene.the south American Indian races refused to mine the earth , telling their spanish and portugese masters that mining was like disemboweling their own mother!in fact the 'conquerers had to beat and torture so many of those Indians to death to force them to mine that in the end they had to import African slaves in 'coffin' ships.

but if you go to the Americas now you will still see those ancient religeous rights being performed.you will still see traditional beliefs being practiced.

a wise man once said , no tradition or religioun can die as long as there is at least one practitioner left.
