It "looks" like it is true :
http://www.geocities.com/skynewsblair/index.html
But look at the URL address in that link above, it's NOT Sky News, but Geocities.com (free pages) . I guess it's a joke (hoax?) from download_longhorn. _________________ █ Please read the Board Rules and Posting, and you

most likely... I havnt really heard much on the issue of legalization in the UK... and for them to just make it legal like that... I'm pretty sure I would have heard about it on the news! _________________ "In the hands of the wise, poison is medicine. In the hands of a fool, medicine is poison."

Yeah I looked into that link before I posted my comment.. The reason I posted was in fact because the only site ive seen info on is a geocities.com(or similar) page.. in other words a user made site. I tried doing a search when this post was first made, and couldnt find the story on any legit website. Anyway maybe im just being paranoid... but hell I live in the USA, paranoia is a way of life here lately.

The situation, as far as i'm aware, in the UK is the same as it's always been, the government has downgraded pot from a class B to class C (or C to D), putting it in the same category as restricted prescription drugs. The legislation will come into effect sometime around the beginning of Jan, the upshot of it being that posession of personal (probably under an eighth) will result in confiscation & a verbal caution. I'm not sure about cultivation & supply, but I guess it's a sliding scale - you'll get now for supply what you used to get for posession. It's a nice step in the right direction, but is nothing more than a Labour publicity stunt to appease the pot users without alienating the pro-prohibition lot. In real terms it puts us no nearer to the cause of legalisation since it does nothing to address the issues or to recognise the abuse of our rights caused by prohibition. I did note with interest when I first came here that the universal declaration of human rights is actually wholly lacking the clause most important in the drug-rights issue, and I suspect that this was a deliberate omission to negate any pro-drug argument in the future. I of course refer to the right of dominion over your own body, part of which is the right to choose what substances you do or do not choose to put into your own body. Any idiot can see that this is an important & inalienable right, possibly even more imprtant than freedom of religion since it concerns immediate physical actions, but since the only application of that right is either to put drugs in or stopping other people putting in drugs if you don't want them, it's easy to see hiw it was overlooked. Never mind a campaign to legalise weed, how about a campaign to get the universal declaration of human rights amended to take into accout the rights of people like us, so we don't have to hide behind religion - that's just gonna marginalise pot smokers even more if they can lable us druggies & a cult... _________________ And that's the day I knew there was this entire life behind things, and... this incredibly benevolent force, that wanted me to know there was no reason to be afraid, ever. Video's a poor excuse. But it helps me remember... and I need to remember... Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world I feel like I can't take it, like my heart's going to cave in.

My joy was short-lived... I think there is still long to go before it's legal here

Thanks boojum, the downgrading info was all I found to. I thought this story was one best looked into.
