Yo, Fyrefly! Clue us all in on a bit of the Chinese meds. |
Ok, Ma Huang (ephedra) is one of the best herbs for what we call 'releasing the exterior'. You want to release the exterior (sweat) in the first stages of a cold or flu. If you drink plenty of tea with Ma Huang in it early enough it works really well. It will make you sweat like crazy but will also burn up your qi (a bad thing) if you do it for too long a time. It's still legal for Chinese pharmacies to carry it.
Huo Ma Ren (Cannabis seed) is used for constipation as it moistens the intestines and clears heat out of the lower jiao (lower GI tract).
It's also good for any kind of sores and ulcerations if applied topically. Seeds are sterile when they're bought so unfortunately, they don't germinate...
It has 30% lipids of which 10% is saturated fat. It also contains cannabinol and phytin and must be ground up in order to work in a decoction. _________________ Fyrefly1

You might what to avoid all smoking, but it is a choice. The herb you mention is natural - I don't restrict it. If you wanted to really clean out you might try only eating it, but it is a choice.
Remember when I said not to get to fanatic about anything - it causes stress. Stress is one of the worst things that you can eat. Eliminate it! _________________ Rollme-wan Mordoobie, the Redeyed Jedi
