Actress and activist Jane Fonda said she intends to take a cross-country bus tour to call for an end to U.S. military operations in Iraq.
Fonda said her antiwar tour in March will use a bus that runs on "vegetable oil." She will be joined by families of Iraq war veterans and her daughter.
Fonda was speaking Saturday in Santa Fe, N.M., where she was promoting her book, "My Life So Far." The actress released the book in April, which among other things gave her side of the story in regard to her controversial trip to North Vietnam in 1972.
Prompted by a question from the audience, Fonda said war veterans she has met on a nationwide book tour have encouraged her to break her silence on the Iraq war.
Fonda said she has not taken a stand on any war since the Vietnam War.
Fonda incited controversy in July 1972 when she was photographed sitting on a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun while on a tour of the country to drum up support for ending the war.
During a book tour stop in Kansas City in April, a Vietnam veteran spit in Fonda’s face. She declined to press charges.
The actress was recently featured in her first film in 15 years, "Monster-in-Law."

Oh Janey baby, what are we to make of the confused message you give us? You were born into the priviledged of Hollywood and you turned hippie-rebel when it was fashionable. But once that lost favor in the public eye, you were quiet until you were re-born as a christian, capitalistic beech married to Ted Turner and meeting with global financial royalty. As you gleefully globe trotted, you yourself were a major contributor to global warming.
So, again I ask you, Janey, what are we to make of your confused message as you want us now to believe that you are a nature-lover as you trot across the country to preach to us about the dangers of global warming?
I guess loving nature must be fasionable right now, huh?

She has been confusing, it's true. But, in defense of Jane, everyone is really a hypocrite, when you come down to it.
We all use electricity and burn gasoline in our cars!

I don't use electricity because I'm just so shocking I can personally power my appliances. I don't own a car anymore because I found I can teleport anywhere I need to go. 
Actually, I was referring to comments she made in the 80's and 90's about how her capitalistic lifestyle contrasted to her hippy life. I don't exactly remember her reply, but it was something along the lines that it was fashionable and that she eventually grew-up.
BTW, I would suspect that what she and Ted personally used of energy on a daily basis would equal or exceed what most of us use in a month. Those multi-million dollar mansions require a lot of resourses.

She's a bit like Bobbie Geldoff, attention seekers who actually achieve nothing but mass-sponsored (by VERY commercial companies) ego bursting events to promote themselves as being 'socially envolved'
Very faschionable yes, it's in the line of MTV and all the other crap we are fed on a daily basis.
