Is this truly a ministry or just a hang-out for potheads?

I would like to open this topic for discussion to all members of the THC Ministry. I think it is a question worth asking to remind us all of the mission statement each of us should have read in the terms of agreement every member has had to sign to become a member.

Why ask this question? Because to non-members and government agents who might browse this site, if this looks like a hang-out for people who - as they see it - are breaking the law, it sets a bad precedent for the ongoing battle to legalize marijuana not only for spiritual reasons, but also for medical and intellectual.

This is just my humble opinion, and as my father used to say, "Opinions are like assholes, everyone's got a least one."

Weird question, why are you so worried about what government officials might think?

What do you expect from this topic? Do you want us to start showing "how religious we are"??? (to please government officials who visit this forum?)

Frankly I personally don't give a damn what visitors or government officials might think and that's not why we are here.

On a side note; If visitors get a wrong impression/opinion, that's their impression/opinion, not ours. ARE WE HERE TO PROVE SOMETHING?? (guess NOT!) ARE WE HERE TO PLEASE GOVERNMENTS? (guess NOT either)

Now I am going to have some sacrament and do some meditation, I'll be back this evening.

Actually, I dont think its a weird question at all - I think its justified and in every respect. Any fool can claim a spiritual use, for any whatever reason. It does not mean they are sincere in their sacramental worship at all.

Aeroplane have had his reason for asking the question, I see the question of sincerety as such a reason enough. Thats my view on the matter.

Not all people walk the spiritual path, and thats just how it is. If people are not committed to it in what is called a Ministry, I can not see how the Ministry in question could ever truely be seen as a Ministry.

If it is so, it would be just a hang-out for potheads - in this case, potheads seeking not the spiritual experience through a holy sacrament but rather a spiritual excuse to smoke pot.

I can only let everyone speak for them self regarding sincerity in worship and practise. Me I put God first, everything else come after.

Do we have a mission statement?

If not, maybe we could use one ... just to make it easier for everyone to understand exactly what our goals are (or aren't).

I'm interested in this, aside from any religious discussions.

Can you explain this?? What is your definition of a religion???

I look at it this way; Many people are afraid to die and join the Christian religions because they think it's a loophole for an afterlife in "heaven" every religion has members who join because they think they gain personal benefits by joining. Does this make the Christian religions "fake"?

TELL ME, HOW SHOULD WE "BEHAVE" TO GET "APPROVAL", and "approval" from WHO? rofl

That goes for every single religion brother, OR MAYBE YOU CAN PROVIDE A SCALE TO JUDGE THIS?

Do we need a THC Ministry police to check our members if they are sincere?? rofl

Do you miss the praising, praying and worshipping so that this looks like a "real" religion? Maybe you are at the wrong place?

i think that all people are religious and all people are spiritual, it just depends on whether or not they want to pay attention to "that which is beyond words" but even if they don't their profound and intimate relationship is still there they just are not aware. i would hope that any who use this as just a hangout would observe some of the conversations and would be naturally affected.

One thing that says alot for this site is(at least in my observation) the lack of negative posting, which is something to be found on all sites but when it is diminished to the extent it has been here i think that says something about the environment.

a man once said "where two or more are gathered......

What about the mission statement that happens to be one of the first things people read when they enter this site?

I totally dig what people are saying here, and the beauty of clarity and purpose that comes with saying it. I think it's wonderful to introspect our common path, though as Ferre pointed out, not because we have to prove anything to anyone. People seeking genuine spiritual integrity will know if what they're reading is out of balance with what's real.

Wishing you all many Moments of "Ah, Women...!" better than you can imagine for yourself...

Cannabis has never been truly illegal. The "laws" prohibiting the most useful agricultural resource on Earth are truly unlawful because Cannabis is unique and essential, beyond the rightful jurisdiction of any court.

Thanks, Reverend Ferre ... for clearing up the confusion on our mission statement. Maybe you can help me with a couple of other puzzling contradictions.

I found this to be one of the very first things that people read when entering our site:
Quote:
It is our opinion that cannabis is the original sacrament of
Hebrew, Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Shinto, Buddhist, Rasta and more,
and fulfills the prophesies to 'feed all our hungers'.

Then I found these statements (along with our mission statement) on the next page:
Quote:
We all get spiritual thoughts once in a while, the use of cannabis is known to open the human mind for centuries already. Also for centuries already humans use it in their religious rituals all over the globe, our members represent many different believes, many different nationalities and many different cultures, the thc-ministry is a growing global community of open minded people who recognize the spiritual use of Cannabis.

The THC-ministry Amsterdam welcomes every one from every part on this planet, regardless their beliefs or any other differences. Besides for the fun and medical, we use The herb for religious reasons. Feel welcome to join and become a member, register (free) at the forum and get to know about the ministry, events, the people, (new friends?)

As always, I am not here to scrutinize anyones particular religious leanings ... but I will not be intimidated from pointing out obvious conflictions or hypocrisy regarding someone's approach at the THC ministry.

A reasonable topic of discussion was brought forth here and it was immediately reduced to, well, what you see - Christian bashing by none other than one of our founders. This situation in no way jibes with the statements quoted above that represent who and what we are upon entering the website.

I question this confliction willfully and knowingly, and I'm fearful that it could result in my being banned from this site because I have raised these very issues in the past and I was ridiculed in the same fashion as those who are sensible enough to raise them here today. Ban me if you must, but remember my signature at the bottom of my post because it is there to remind all that a world of insistent hypocrisy is a world of tyranny ... even if it is only the small world of one person.

To suggest that someone may not be at the right place simply because they make the proclamation that 'God comes first' is not what I believe the THC Ministry's original intent was designed around. This statement could be a reference to any of the many Gods that our members have worshipped and continue to worship daily ... Christian or otherwise.

A total disconnect is obvious ... and needs addressing.

Peace,

Stokes

from my view, i would say that Rev Ferre is only criticizing those who use their beliefs as an escape from a problem that they should face, notice he said many and not all. For instance if a person has fear of death they should not let their belief about it prevent their understanding and curiosity from growing. Or say it another way: Religion is made for seeking and fulfillment and not pacifying.

Now that you've attempted to qualify Ferre's statements, maybe you can help me to understand why we would need (or welcome) religious criticism of any kind to become a talking point on a forum of people who claim to welcome and respect people of ALL religious affiliations?

The unwarranted criticism is directed at a religion not any individuals, and is absolutely contradictory to our welcoming statements. This is the hypocrisy that people will see.

Come on now, Stokes, no body said anything about banning anyone. I think your point is well taken in some ways, and your point of view valid & valuable for purposes of open discussion, but to turn it toward fear of punishment seems a bit dramatic.

================================================

To suggest that someone may not be at the right place simply because they make the proclamation that 'God comes first' is not what I believe the THC Ministry's original intent was designed around. This statement could be a reference to any of the many Gods that our members have worshipped and continue to worship daily ... Christian or otherwise.

=============================================

The "original intent of the THC Ministry" as I understood it was to keep us from getting our butts thrown into jail, by genuinely recognizing the spiritual dimensions of the "green herb" Cannabis as part of our evolutionary spiritual process. It is growing into much more than that, by means of just this sort of discusssion. It's healthy.

Maybe I'm wrong, but spirituality is constantly evolving, even in The Churches, as people share insights and opinions, "revelations" and interpretations of our life experience. For some that includes Christianity, Buddhism,... "YouNameIt!"

peace, Stokes, nobody's gonna get bounced for expressing their opinion in a respectful way. It doesn't mean we're all always going to agree on every facet of what the THC Ministry is about.

Thanks for the support, PP.

I wouldn't speak of it if it were not a legitimate concern ... no drama involved.

Just genuine concern for our Ministry and what WE stand for.
