Hey everyone, i'm new to this site and got a couple of questions...
Firstly, i'm a FIRM believer that human-made laws shouldn't take away anything that God has given to us. Sadly, people are still being thrown into jail and put to death for planting seeds and consuming something that is being grown naturally.
I'm sure you guys have heard about the strict laws in Singapore and this is just the place i was born in. I do not condemn my homeland, i respect and appreciate everything that it has to offer (eg. low crime rates, good food, diverse culture, clean environment). However, people here are still being hung for consumption or possession of the plant. This ignorance saddens and angers me.
Now i do not use the plant nor have i tried it, but i know of people who do. And these people, are just as normal, nice and peace-loving as any of us out there. Prosecuting them for consumption, growing or possession is basically just going against nature and in my opinion, has no difference with challenging Man's origins.
I hope that my brothers here will help me help these people...
Is there anything they can do or say, when prosecuted, to protect their rights here in Singapore? I am not exactly a law kind of person so i do not know how it works in my country. Maybe you guys here can help me with it? |

I visited Singapore many years ago. I loved the beauty and diversity of the place.
I saw my first cricket match there!
...but the harsh (death penality) laws for cannabis scared the willies out of me.
Please do look into the Humans Rights Declaration. It's quite important!

Thank you guys for looking into the matter...
Okay we still have our rights, thats good news, but to what extent? It's just a bunch of words and i really don't have much idea on how i'm covered.
Anyway i noticed that under the Religious Harmony Act, any one of us have the right to profess and practice religion.
Is this of any help? |

This part is very similar to a section of the Pennsylvania Constitution that I'm subject to. It seems to make a clear exception to anything having to do with controlled substances.
I'm still scratching my head over it, but at the same time I haven't had the funds to have a legal professional look into it in any detail. I guess that will happen if I ever need to use a religious defense ... hopefully never.
Good luck. _________________ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I think that means 'if, at the discretion of the authorities, you are so addicted, and out of your mind that you can't function and are deemed a menace to society', they can pick you up and take you to treatment...in other words, put you away! _________________ Fyrefly1
