SINGAPORE -- A German teenager has been jailed for six months after he was caught with marijuana hidden in his underwear on a flight into Singapore, a local newspaper reported Saturday.
Ray Sebastian Nantwi Lutzenkirchen, 19, was arrested upon arrival in the city-state for smoking in a plane toilet on a flight from Bahrain Dec. 2, the local Straits Times said.
Police searching him after his arrest found 1.53 grams of marijuana hidden in his underwear, the paper said.
Lutzenkirchen pleaded guilty and was sentenced Friday, the paper said.
He could have been jailed for 10 years.
Singapore has some of the world's toughest drug laws, including a mandatory death penalty for anyone caught with more than 15 grams of heroin or more than 500 grams of marijuana. Those convicted are hanged.
Court officials could not be immediately reached for comment. (AP)
