Dutch potheads keep 'coffee' shops

BRUSSELS, Belgium, Nov. 27 (UPI) -- Holland will be allowed to keep its "coffee" shops, where marijuana is openly sold and smoked, under a new European Union drugs control law.

Justice ministers from the 15 EU member states agreed Thursday to harmonize their national drug laws, and drug traffickers across Europe will face 1-3 years in prison for producing or distributing drugs, including cannabis, coca and opium plants. But individual countries are allowed to set their own national rules on personal consumption of drugs, providing a loophole for Holland's famed "coffee" cafes.

But only Dutch residents with identity cards will be allowed to use the cannabis cafes.

Dutch justice minister Piet Hein Donner said his government would restrict coffee shop owners from selling soft drugs to non-residents, in order to combat drug tourists

just bla bla bla of politics,
every few weeks they say something new just to stay in the news.
they like to show us how stupid they spend our tax money
hours of talking about nonsence, on our account.
And na,na,nanana we just stand as fools with open mouth
listening to those who serve themselves only.
they like to keep their sit hot, but do nothing for the needy and sick,
who need Cannabis for their well being.

Obviously this subject is being discussed elsewhere too, I found this today .....

yup, thats what i was thinking... but will us foreigners be allowed into the coffeshops? if not, its gonna be just like teens hanging around outside offlisences and liquor stores waiting for someone who'll help.

but even with those indivduals willing to go for their dream dope holiday still, there will be considerable losses to the tourism trade. expect alot more people going on holiday to canada!

Those attemps of our poor minister Donner to get him some popularity outside our borders are getting more and more pathetic every day.

FACT : This kind of laws WOULD NEVER MAKE IT THROUGH THE 2nd CHAMBER IN HOLLAND, he's just giving foreign politicians a lot of blabla to score some credits, but in his own country he's making an ass of himself. rofl
