Hempy Holidaze from 420 Times Magazine
We've seen a lot go down this year. Denver got legalized Marijuana, Bush got arrested for Pot and Paris Hilton and I are getting married on April 20th. (just kidding) One thing for sure, is that we are still far from actually seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. The key to this information war is awareness. The majority of people who vote against us, actually believe the lies our Government tells them. Please do us all a huge favor and make it a point to discuss the issue with at least 10 people throughout the holiday, that you never discussed the issue with. You will be amazed to find what people think and know. Below are just the top ten articles of the last few weeks. There are more than 8,000 news articles in our Cannabis news archives. Come take a look and get an education, then VOTE.

Marijuana Possession Legalized In Denver
Now that marijuana has been legalized in Denver, the "Mile High City" definitely means something new. Denver residents voted 54 percent to 46 percent to legalize the possession of an ounce of marijuana for those over 21 years of age. State possession laws, however, will still be applied according to authorities. Those who support the law agree that use of marijuana is safer than cigarettes and second-hand smoke. Members from the group Safer Alternatives for Enjoyable Recreation educated voters on the more harmful effects of alcohol on society as opposed to marijuana.

Time Magazine Praises Medical Cannabis As "Legitimate"
"Research into the analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects of cannabis continued to bolster the case for the medicinal use of marijuana, making the patient pot laws' that have passed in 11 states seem less like a social movement than a legitimate medical trend," states last week's issue of Time Magazine. The magazine cited a pair of recent studies investigating the use of medicinal cannabinoids. The first, published last month in the journal Rheumatology, found that cannabis extracts reduced pain and inflammation and improved sleep in patients suffering from rheumatoid arthritis.

Nurses Back Medical Marijuana
It is difficult for nurses to remain silent when patients are denied access to an effective medical treatment. That is why the Wisconsin Nurses Association supports the medical marijuana bill authored by Rep. Gregg Underheim (R-Oshkosh), known as AB 740. In taking this position, we are squarely in the mainstream of the public health community. The American Nurses Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Public Health Association and the American Academy of HIV Medicine are just a few of the health care organizations that have acknowledged that marijuana can be a valuable treatment when used under medical supervision.

Medical Marijuana Hits Legislature
Republican Representative Gregg Underheim has once again proposed legislation to legalize the medicinal use of marijuana in the state of Wisconsin. This year, as opposed to last year when Underheim also introduced this bill, the Assembly Committee on Health held a public hearing on AB 740, the Medical Marijuana Bill. On Nov. 11, 2005, the Committee, chaired by Underheim, heard 17 people speak in favor of the legislation and one speak against. There is strong public support for this as well; a 2004 poll conducted by Chamberlain Research Consultants revealed that almost 80 percent of Wisconsin residents are in favor of medical marijuana legislation.

Industrial Hemp Support takes Root
David Monson is a conservative Republican in North Dakota's legislature. He's also a farmer who believes that a new cash crop could revitalize his state's agricultural industry, which has been suffering from poor harvests and depressed soy and corn prices. That policy has led to an explosion in goods containing high-fiber, high-protein hemp that has been fueled by Americans' thirst for organic products - and perhaps by the tie some consumers see between hemp and marijuana, a counterculture symbol for decades. It also has put the cannabis plant at the center of a battle between unlikely foes: angry farmers such as Monson who are leading increasingly vocal calls for the U.S. government to legalize the growing of what's known as "industrial" hemp, and federal anti-drug officials who say that allowing such crops would create a slippery slope toward legalizing marijuana.

Governor Set To Push Anti-Marijuana Legislation
The Murkowski administration will "hit the ground running" next session on a bill proposed last year to overturn a court decision on marijuana use, said Alaska Department of Law spokesman Mark Morones.
Alaskans are allowed to possess up to 4 ounces of marijuana in their homes for personal use but the bill could lower that amount to less than 1 ounce if it passes. The Senate Health, Education and Social Services Committee heard from experts last session on both sides of the issue - some arguing marijuana is a threat to society and others saying pot is less harmful than a pack of cigarettes.

Synagogue board shows support in marijuana case
The Conservative rabbi who was charged with having 27 grams of marijuana in his car and convicted of impaired driving won a vote of confidence for a new contract from his board yesterday — an indication that the respected spiritual leader has been forgiven, even if his crime has not been completely forgotten. In an e-mail sent to members of Congregation Sons of Israel yesterday, the president of its board of trustees said the 550-member synagogue would eventually vote on a new one-year contract once it was negotiated with the rabbi, Steven Kane, a 50-year-old father of three.

State Medical Marijuana Cards Available Today
Riverside County today joins the statewide medical marijuana identification card program for those who have a doctor's permission to use the drug. Officials estimate Riverside County could see 3,000 to 4,000 people apply for the card, which costs $100 - or $50 for patients who have Medi-Cal. The cards are optional; patients only need a doctor's note to legally use marijuana. But the card can help protect patients from criminal prosecution if local law enforcement stops them.

Professor Questions Government Monopoly on Marijuana
Put this in your pipe and smoke it: A University of Massachusetts professor says the medical marijuana grown by the federal government isn't very good. He wants a permit to cultivate his own pot, saying it will be better for research. Lyle Craker, a horticulturist who heads the school's medicinal plant program, is challenging the government's 36-year-old monopoly on research marijuana. Craker's suit claims government-grown marijuana lacks the potency medical researchers need to make important breakthroughs. "The government's marijuana just isn't strong enough," said Richard Doblin, a Craker supporter who heads the Massachusetts-based Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies.

The Grass is Greener... In a Doctor's Office
Currently in New York as well as around the country there are laws that make possession of marijuana a crime. Recently though, there has been a movement in certain states to enact medical marijuana legislation, recognizing that marijuana has some benefits for people suffering from diseases.
Marijuana is often considered a "gateway" drug, one that can lead to using many more harmful drugs. However, there has never been a known case of someone dying from smoking marijuana. Even more, there has been a significant amount of studies that point to marijuana in limited uses being beneficial for certain diseases.

'War on Drugs:' A Foul Tragedy
A marijuana grower can get life in prison without parole, while a murderer might be in for eight years. No rational person can defend this. We Democrats are at our worst when we try to emulate Republicans -- as we did in signing onto the "war" on drugs that has ruined so many young lives.
The cruelty of the Sentencing Reform Act of 1984 is stark indeed, as are the sentencing guidelines that impose mandatory minimum sentences for minor drug possession -- guidelines in the 1986 Anti-Drug Abuse Act that sailed through Congress without benefit of public hearings, drafted before an election by Democrats afraid to be labeled "soft on drugs."

Prohibition vs. Democracy: The County of San Diego
The County of San Diego recently announced that it would not implement a California law that requires counties to create a medical marijuana identification program. First county supervisors said medical marijuana patients would have to sue them to get identification cards, but then the county changed its position after the local newspaper suggested the county should sue the state for declaratory judgment, which is what they decided to do. As we wait for this litigation to start, now is a good time to consider the merits and demerits of the position of the County of San Diego regarding medical marijuana.

Off-duty Officer Tracks Down Shopper Who Allegedly Had Pot
Police said suspicions were aroused when an off-duty officer shopping at the Wal-Mart on Arsenal Street noticed that a fellow shopper, Mr. Malespin, had red eyes and smelled of marijuana smoke. The off-duty officer made his purchase and then followed Mr. Malespin and another man to the food court at the Salmon Run Mall, where he called for backup, police said. Officers said that when Mr. Malespin left the mall, the off-duty officer confronted him and, following a search, found rolling papers. The off-duty officer then received permission to look through Mr. Malespin's car and found a burnt marijuana cigarette, police said.

The Volcano Vaporizer
Hands down, this is the Best vaporizer on the planet! Used in hospitals all around the globe where Cannabis is used legally for medicine. The element heats up to about 420 degrees, then you place the grinded herb into the chamber on top and turn on the fan. Then you attach the balloon and watch it fill up with THC vapors. No smoke, no burnt leaf matter. The Heat that passes through the herb is hot enough to burst the trichomes (crystals) into a vapor form, instead of burning with fire, therefore eliminating the tars and carcinogens, as well as removing ALL health risk. The Volcano is the Best! I use mine every day...;)

Emperor of Hemp on VHS and DVD
This film changed my life, seriously. Produced by my very good friend, Jeff Myers, is the life story of Jack Herer, author of The Emperor Wears No Clothes. Jack is considered to be the GodFather of the Hemp industry by showing us how Hemp really can save the world. No Bullshit! I once tried to organize a tour to show this film across the world, but was unable to get funding. If you ever listened to anything I've ever said, please listen now, everyone needs to see this film. It explains how and why Hemp was deemed the evil weed that causes gang bangs, insanity and murder. Way too much to even scratch the surface on here, please goto the site, buy this film and show everyone you know. I promise you it will change your life too!
