Forgive me, but I'm a little bit high, maybe somebody can help me understand what this says. It's part of an article I copied from today's Reuters.
| Quote: |
Hundreds of thousands of flag-waving Lebanese flooded central Beirut on Tuesday for a pro-Syrian rally called by the Hizbollah militant group that dwarfed previous protests demanding that Syrian troops quit Lebanon.
Lebanese newspapers, even those who back the opposition, agreed that the rally was Lebanon's largest.
"The greatest demonstration in Lebanon's history: Let's unite," leftist As-Safir daily said in a frontpage headline splashed over a picture of the crowd.
"Hizbollah draws largest crowd 'in gratitude to Syria'," the opposition An-Nahar daily's headline said.
It was the first major show of popular support for Syria in Beirut since the Feb. 14 assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik al-Hariri touched off daily anti-Syrian protests, mainly involving Maronite Christians.

You can read the whole article here:http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=topNews&storyID=7849697
If I'm understanding this correctly, the size of this "flag waving" rally, which I only saw once on BBC and not at all on CNN - the world's choice for news, was obviously bigger than the anti-Syrian protests I had seen splashed all over the western news, which was so quick to convict Syria?
It might be the smoke talking talking through me, but couldn't that mean that maybe somebody else, other than Syria, behind the assasination of the former PM of Lebanon? And if so, who would want to use deception that could spark a war in the already volatile middle east?
Could it be Satan???
Maybe... or perhaps some government(s).
But who? Who could behind the assasination of the former PM? |

Well, from what I have understood is that in reality Syria is protecting lebanon from being invaded by Israel again.
I have also understood that while America and Israel were the first to start shouting that Syria had planned a bomb. In reality it has been Israel who assasinated a Lebanese politician in order to blaim Syria and start agression against that country.
I had a few articles about this, I'll see if I can find them. _________________ █ Please read the Board Rules and Posting, and you

I am so sick of the whole thing that I would rather stick to the diet topic. Something, ANYTHING, has needed to be done in the Middle East for a LONG time. Why can't a plague just settle the whole thing. There wouldn't be any more trouble coming out of there if all that blew through those deserts was wind.
Is war the answer? Maybe, but they already have war. They have it with or without us. It's like a past-time over there. Religion and politics are only the frontline justifications for it all. The real reasons are hatred and greed. Even for the current U.S. involvement.
War is always chaotic and sick. You will go crazy trying to make sense of it. _________________ Rollme-wan Mordoobie, the Redeyed Jedi

All right ... here's the plan.
You brew up a batch of your 'nasty fritters' and we'll go over and offer them to everyone.

Thanks Ferre for the suggestions and links. I noticed that you were not quick to point the finger at anyone in particular. Fair and unbiased. |
