i just thougt maybe this would make an interesting thread for people to post their thoughts and understanding of what prayer is and what it does or how it may or may not(according to opinion) work.

How does prayer fit into Gods will? What if you pray and ask for something that isnt in God's will? Will you get it? What if you dont? If you dont, that means it wasnt in God's will.....right? Well, if he wasnt going to give it to you in the first place, what good is praying? And if it was already in God's will for you to have it, what need do you have to pray for it? And Ive already heard the argument that you have to ask for whats in God's will to get what you want. No one knows God's will. If they did, they wouldnt pray. They know what God's will is, and know what he is going to do, right? To me it is a truly Escher-esque painting of circular logic. Anyone care to straighten it out? Laughing Im willing to be educated.
Well man the only conclusion i could ever come to in this type of thinking was that it is impossible to answer a logical question that pertains to things which transcend logic and duality.
If nothing but God is real and you're you but also God at the same time then how could you ever understand God's will as a will that had to be willed to accomplish something and why could it not transcend any kind of "will" that we can think of, what is will? Maybe God willed his will to be a changable will according as things change as they go. i mean you're still thinking in a linear pattern and if we assume God exists then we must assume at least the same for him as we do for reality which is that it is beyond Space and Time. Also how do we mean will? does God hope to accomplish something? Maybe the best answer to your question would be to say that the rules of the game are infinite and eternal and change as they go.
i always encourage sceptascism along with open mindedness, and trying to practice these to the best of my ability have come to the conclusion based on certain scientific tests done by oraganizations such as www.noetic.org and i think it would be totally illogical to say that prayer does not work. i suppose there would be some hope for an answer in words that could be found maybe through quantum physics and the study of negative and positive thought affecting DNA stains which is very interesting.

The secret was told to Mose through the bush which the lord who is like unto fire did burn but not consume, Moses came nigh unto the bush and the Lord spake: I Am, upon which Moses pondered and replied I am too, thus was the initiation given through the bush which in its blazing was not consumed but revealed. |
