AHO! boy does this thread get to the meat of our "thang" here. I am so glad to be a part of it and am pressed for time now but will add to this later as I have come to be a THC minister by a strange route. I carry two Sacred pipes( see my thread on walking with a Pipe) and love to mirror that light with the bible to a christian. they can't argue when you show them something in black and white although I try to make my points with words in red as that is closer to the core and possitivly can't be argued with. someday we gonna have a THC ministers gathering and its gonna be awesome...... _________________ Peace from the Homestead touches earth |

I am a christian. with just one exception every medicine person I have met in my walk with a Pipe have been christian. The one I considered my main teacher was a mayan indian and she was catholic and a shaman with no conflict. The native american indian was VERY connected to Spirit and when the white missionarys came and told of a Son of God they were already connected to Spirit so took the message of a Son of God as being of great importance and had no troubled believing. Now if the white priests had just listen to the ones they were preaching to about there connection to the Creator our whole history might have been different. In my walk with Spirit I feel like Martin Luther when he left the "Church" because I feel each man has the right to talk directly to God. As a minister my first job is to teach a person who ask me for help how to not ask me but ask the Creator for what they want. That is where my Sacred pipe comes into play. My tobacco Pipe I fill with prayers to All of Gods creation and then I put my prayers into it and then everyone else in the circle will put there prayers into it, then when we smoke it the smoke takes our prayers up and out into the universe to God's ear. My Ganja Pipe is the prayers cooming back me it is my Mother Pipe and it brings me the healing and connection to myself. It is hard to put this in words it is not written in books it comes from things handed down from generation to generation orally and then only to those that will keep the teachings in a good way....sorta like Christ taught......hmmmm _________________ Peace from the Homestead touches earth |

That's a very similar thing to the floating lamps in Shinto. They make a small paper lantern and imagine they're building their prayers into it. Then put the lanterns into a stream to 'deliver' them to their ancesters. You can find similarities in most religions if you look for them.
