With Congress out of Washington, the Cheney-led White House would almost certainly unleash a "Guns of August" attack on Iran.
LaRouche based this assessment on a series of factors, reported to him over the recent days, beginning with the qualified report, from a former U.S. intelligence official, published in the American Conservative magazine, that Dick Cheney ordered the Strategic Command (STRATCOM) to prepare contingency plans for a conventional and tactical nuclear strike against hundreds of targets in Iran, in the event of a "new 9/11-style attack" on the United States. As EIR reported several months ago, the Bush Administration, under CONPLAN 8022, had already placed the relevant "mini-nukes" under the control of theater military commanders, as part of a new Global Strike doctrine, a doctrine originally conceived when Dick Cheney was Secretary of Defense under George H.W. Bush in the early 1990s.
The recent bombings in London have provided Tony Blair with his own "Reichstag fire" incident, and the full resources of the British "liberal imperial" faction can now be expected to weigh in behind the brutish Cheney circles in Washington.
The most compelling evidence of this "Guns of August" plan, LaRouche emphasized in discussions with colleagues, is the pattern of eyewitness reports of Dick Cheney's state of mind. Cheney is living out an American version of "Hitler in the bunker," lashing out at Republican Senators who have dared to resist his mad tirades, accusing anyone who fails to follow his orders—including senior members of the United States Senate—of being "traitors" and worse.
And finally, LaRouche identified a series of reports from highly qualified Congressional, military, and intelligence community sources, who have confirmed the essential features of the original American Conservative account of Cheney's Strangelove schemes for a preemptive nuclear strike on Iran. These sources have emphasized that these Iran plans are not merely military contingency studies, but represent the policy intentions of Cheney.

Well, isn't it refreshing to know that after 60 years of policy that only allowed for the order of a nuclear strike, big or small, to come directly from the executive office, that now the executive office wants to share the love? "Here boys, have a few nukes to toss around. Feel free to use them as you like."

A number of political observers and activists today sounded 'a red alert'
after reports surfaced this week Vice President Dick Cheney directly
ordered Strategic Command (STRATCOM) to make contingency plans for a
nuclear strike against Iran in the aftermath of another '9/11 type attack'
on America.
Cheney's orders first surfaced in an article by Philip Geraldi in the Aug
1, 2005, issue of The American Conservative. Geraldi was unavailable for
comment, but excerpts of the article went on to say:
"Vice President Cheney's office has specifically told the Pentagon that
the military should be prepared for an attack on Iran in the immediate
aftermath of "another 9-11." That's "not conditional on Iran actually
being involved in the act of terrorism directed against the United
States," notes Geraldi's article.
The statement was then distributed widely over the internet as a number of
political observers have issued "world wide" warning statements,"
declaring Cheney's order to be interpreted as "sounding the bell for World
War III."
In response to Cheney's order, outspoken political activist and former
candidate for U.S. President, Lyndon La Rouche, Wednesday issued a "world
wide" internet warning covering the time period of August 2005, saying:
"Vice President Dick Cheney, with the full collusion of the circles of
British Prime Minister Tony Blair, to unleash the recently exposed plans
to stage a preemptive tactical nuclear strike against Iran.

In the warning distributed widely throughout the world on July 27,

Here's a a few reasons why I don't think it's going to happen in August 2005:
1) LaRouche is a lot like Pat Robertson. One is a fantic to the Left, the other to the Right. Both have run for president and therefore, both have a motive for twisting facts in their favor hoping for one last bid at the Oval Office.
2) Bush is an anal beast of habit. To allow for another 9/11 right now would be too soon and out of sync with his first 9/11. Therefore, it would have to be next year.
3) There are forces at work here that do not answer to Bush.
4) The voices in my head say so.

Update: The voices in my head are saying that if Iran does start it's nuclear fuel enrichment production, as they have recently suggested they might; then it is possible somebody in the WH might go loco and start bombing Iran with nukes. He would probably feel emboldened since it seems that so many Americans are resolved to the idea of WWIII as being biblically destined to happen now.
By calling Iran part of the "Axis of Evil", Bush has allowed for wholescale nuclear slaughter of Iranians since "evil" would imply that Iranians are immoral and a gateway for the Devil. Isn't that what evil implies? A connection to Satan. American's would be guilt-free because they were only policing the world just as God intended. Afterall, we are "One nation, under God."
It's the end of the world as we know it.  (that's my indigo-self showing)

The voices in my head are saying that August is probably not the best time to vacation in Iran with Israel's proposed pull-out in the Gaza Strip. If jews killing jews starts to make the news, expect an attack on Iran to divert attention away from Gaza.
