Well, one particularly famous example from British history is the Magna Carta, which included such important rights as habeus corpus.

GCW,
I am very sorry to say "I've had a enough of signing partitions".
I think the only partition I would sign would be a partition to make partitions illegal.
I know that some have actually achieved something, but I wonder what the % rate for success is.
Free the Weed, tear up a partition and smoke it.
We need to unite!!!!!! NOW!
No offence GCW, It's not your partition, sounds like another good one, its the mass. |

prntrkmt,
I am just concerned with the amount of wasted time setting up these partitions, just for the government just to ignore the majority.
I've seen it too many times.
We all know what the result will be, so lets put our efforts towards a cast iron plan! |
Well, returning to the Magna Carta as an example, I think it depends on how the petition is done.
A little more than a decade ago I was one of a whole bunch of people getting a petition signed for California Proposition 215. We got enough people to sign that it was put on the ballot. It was passed overwhelmingly, making Califrornia the first state to pass a medical marijuana.
And to use a religious example, Martin Luther posted a one person petitiion on a church and it started a whole new branch of Christianity.
I understand that it is easy to waste time on frivilious petitions, especially on-line polls.
But petition can be a powerful force for change. _________________ http://www.prntrkmt.org/ |

I think the problem is, we start to partition, but then it loses energy, or they hand in the partition and then forget about.
We should make a world wide partition for the decriminalise Cannabis and see that it is carried out.
Too many times have I seen partitions asking for something and the government do the complete opposite, by this time the rally has dispersed and no-one has the strength to complain. I think you'll find the government love partitions!!!!
They stop an uprising. |
