Peter Till, 39, is representing himself in Brisbane Magistrates Court on a charge of possession of a dangerous drug.
He told the court today it was not unlawful to take the 90cm-tall plant into Brisbane Magistrates Court on January 8, 2007 because he was going to tender it as evidence in another court matter.
The crown said Queensland legislation forbade him from doing so.
The court was told Mr Till had the plant in a sack and it was discovered during an X-ray by security guards.
The trial continues.

Ferre.
Most people know that we will be prosecuted if caught. I don't stick my dick in the wind to see which way the wind is blowing.
You live in a part of the world where it is accepted. If you didn't, would you grow your own? I do and try to teach as many as possible to do the same. It's one of natures (and gods if you believe that way), many ways to take care of yourself and help others.
Learn to grow and pass it on. Overgrow is not copy written.
