Disturbing news from Thailand:

Quote:
Once again Muslim insurgents have struck Thailand’s troubled south, injuring 20 people in a night-market bombing attack in the Muang district, Pattani Province. Commentators regard this as an attempt to further polarize the two religions practiced in the region, Islam and Buddhism. It is asserted that Muslim insurgents wish to oust the Buddhist minority and return the region to its independent status as it was over one hundred years ago before being annexed by Thailand. To further make their point, insurgents are also targeting Muslims that they suspect of collaborating with the Buddhist authorities.

Since January 2004, 2100 people have been killed in Thailand’s three southernmost provinces, 20 of whom have been beheaded. But, despite the presence of 30,000 soldiers and paramilitary rangers in the region bordering Malaysia, gun and bomb attacks on both Muslims and Buddhists have significantly increased. The army would like an additional 10,000 military reinforcements in the region, but the government prefers giving the locals military training and equipping them with weapons.

Western agencies are reporting of schools burned down:

Quote:
Suspected Islamic insurgents in southern Thailand exploded a bomb at a busy night market and wounded 20 people Monday, police said. Earlier in the day, police found the bodies of two Buddhist villagers, one beheaded, apparently slain by Muslim rebels.

Similar handwritten messages were left after both attacks, saying they were revenge for a deadly weekend bombing at a mosque, police said.

Thailand is overwhelmingly Buddhist, but Muslims are a majority in the deep south, where they have long complained of discrimination. Since the Muslim rebellion flared up in early 2004, near-daily bombings, drive-by shootings and other attacks have killed more than 2,000 people.

Insurgents have targeted Buddhist civilians in what is believed to be an attempt to drive them from the area and to rouse animosity between followers of the two religions. Muslim citizens — especially those seen as collaborating with the government — also have been killed.

On Monday, a bomb hidden in the front basket of a motorcycle blew up in front of a Muslim food stall in the market, causing customers to flee in panic, police Lt. Somjit Nasomyon said. Four of the 20 wounded suffered serious injuries.

This is while Buddhists around the world celebrate the anniversary of the founder of their religion.

Oh what a blessing the Abrahamic teachings have brought to our world! Rolling Eyes

On a side note; when you use html instead of the forum BB code to make links, please add the target="_blank" tag(BB code does that automatically), the past monts I have been editing all your posts to add this tag myself.

(TECH) Ferre - I stopped using the BB code since it makes the links invisible in the text, while html links are underlined. Why havenīt you pmīd me that I was causing additional work, I am using tabbed browsing and didnīt notice the difference you described.

I will try it this way (an underline and an url tag combined).

Yep - preview confirms it works!

(BACK ON TOPIC) The last time a high profile religious leader in the Abrahamitic structure was quoting this to the Muslims ...

Quote:
God is not pleased by blood, and not acting reasonably is contrary to God's nature. Faith is born of the soul, not the body. Whoever would lead someone to faith needs the ability to speak well and to reason properly, without violence and threats... To convince a reasonable soul, one does not need a strong arm, or weapons of any kind, or any other means of threatening a person with death....

... he was told to fuck off. Itīs interesting times we live in.
