I feel compelled to share this with you..
There is a follow-up to this article and I will post it in the next day or so. The nature of the Sacred Herb is highly important to all who know or sense the value of wisdom that can be gleaned from the High.
I, of course, welcome all comments and ask that one read this in all seriousness....
Brujo of the Daimistas Marianos
There is a large organization in Central and South America known as the Daimistas Marianos, who intake a combination of marijuana and ayahuasca as their spiritual practice. [For those who are unaquainted with ayahuasca, it is a leafy, rapidly growing vine which contains highly hallucinogenic quantities of DMT. When mashed and boiled in conjunction with a second herb, Chacruna, the DMT is chemically liberated. The mixture yields a dark brown syrup of foul taste, but of very potent visionary quality.] This group considers both ayahuasca and marijuana as sacred substances. They use both to gain visions into the nature of reality and the reality of nature, of which the practitioner considers themselves a part.
A tale is told amongst a certain sect of Daimistas Marianos, which speaks of an ancient Brujo, a Curandero or medicine man of great power, in the time before the Conquistadores of South America. So great was his power they say, that he could cure any disease of the mind, body or spirit. So powerful was his spiritual medicine that he could divine future events, send his psychic influence over great distances to render influence upon tribes far away. They say he could alter the weather at will, kill another with his “virote” or change the state of consciousness of anyone in his presence through sheer intention. They say he could commune with any plant or animal to determine, “their spirit” and their practical use for man. These and various powers he was said to have, but most of all, this Brujo was revered as a very holy man who used both marijuana and ayahuasca as his primary, “plant allies”. The people say that both he and the lineage of teachers before him, learned everything they knew through careful observation and the imparted wisdom of these two teacher plants.
On a certain occasion, the Brujo called for a great meeting amongst the tribes, somewhere in the area now known as central Chile. He summoned a Council of Curanderos, or “meeting of the wise” to convene their beneficial influence for all the peoples of the region. Many vats of ayahuasca were prepared, and the finest flowers of the marijuana were hung from pole rafters of various thatched huts. During one evening the ayahuasca was drank by all. The next day their visions were interpreted by the Council as to their deeper meanings, and by midday, the marijuana was also smoked in liberal quantities. At this time the Brujo said to the gathered peoples;
“It is our practice to imbibe the ayahuasca and marijuana together on most occasions, though on this one I have had you take them separately. I did this to show you the clear distinction between these two plant teachers. The ayahuasca purges the spirit and shows us how to correct our ways so that we may live a clean life. The marijuana on the other hand, shows us how to actually build upon that clean life and become a wise man or woman of the High. In my opinion, the marijuana is the superior plant teacher, for it is very kind, and imparts many excellent gifts to those who use it correctly. But unlike the harsh ayahuasca, this Path requires much inner discipline. It requires the practitioner to change their life in many ways, so that they can live fully the wisdom contained in the great Plant Ally.”
He then challenged the gathered throng thus;
“Who among you, right now, would be willing to learn of this Path and gain the various gifts of the Teacher known as Marijuana”?
At first there was a surprised silence, as it sounded as though the Brujo was offering in depth knowledge usually only taught to apprentices. But then a great cry arose from them, and the hands of all 1000 or so people were thrust into the air to convey their desire to learn.
“Fine, fine”, he said, indicating them to be silent once more. “Then let me ask you again, who among you, right now, would be willing to learn this path and gain the various gifts of the Teacher known as Marijuana, if that meant spending time alone from your families and friends in deep meditation upon the woods and the meaning of life.”
This time, only about half of the hands went into the air.
“I see that some enthusiasm has been lost” he said, “and I haven’t even begun to list the things required of you in this practice”. Many of the people looked down, embarrassed, that they could be swayed from their spiritual purpose so easily, especially in the face of the great Brujo. Most then raised their hands again in the air, indicating their desire to learn.
“Then I ask again”, the Brujo said, “who among you, right now, would be willing to learn this Path and gain the various powers and abilities of the teacher known as Marijuana, if that meant purifying your diet, not engaging in trivial gossip, getting enough and the right kind of exercise, and devoting your intention to spiritual progress?”
This time only a third of the hands went into the air.
“And you who still want to learn of the High and gain its’ powers and abilities…who among you would be willing to take up this Path, if that meant dedicating yourself to the principles of nature and not the follies of human tradition?” A silence ensued. “Who among you will smoke this herb with reverence, with meditative focus, and commit yourselves to a life of truth alone where the old, comforting gods do not live, and where only the Truth of Life remains? Who among you would leave the limitations of your wife or husband, tribe or clan, if necessary, in order to take up the Facts of Life as revealed by the Smoke?”
This time only ten hands stayed raised, out of over a thousand people. Everyone else looked rather sheepishly at the ground, the sky, the surrounding trees of that large clearing, in uncomfortable silence.
“You then”, the Brujo pointed to those with hands still raised, “step forward”. “Based upon sheer desire alone, I will accept any or all of you to be my probationary apprentices in this sacred work, but only if you can pass a test that I now pose”. These few faces lit up with joy at first, but then became more grim after they reflected on the possible demands of the unnamed “test”. The rest of the crowd gathered around silently and respectfully to observe what would happen next.
From within a woven vest the Brujo pulled forth a plain red hardwood pipe, whose bowl was covered by a square of leather with straps. These he untied to reveal that the bowl was already packed with fine marijuana flowers.
“I will pass this Herb to you, and you will each smoke it in turn three times around this circle. After the third puff, I will test your readiness to undertake the Path.” Many looked from one to the other nervously, but some had calm focus. Three puffs did each take from the Masters’ bowl. The Brujo looked carefully and deeply into the eyes of each aspirant, and then said, “My test is of two parts. First you will focus upon the High and the High alone for ten minutes straight without wavering in your intention. You must do this with fidelity, and I will FEEL it if you lose your focus. Of the ten aspirants, only five could focus upon the high with unwavering intention for ten minutes straight. To the rest he said “You may go”. Five left the small circle, disappointed, but a little wiser. To the remaining five, the Brujo said, “The second part of my test for you is to direct your high according to will, and cause it to be Higher still. This is done by staying focused upon the High of Marijuana and using your intention to guide it even higher than what the herb gave you”. Use your intuition and body-wide feelings of High, and ask your spirit, ask the Herb, ‘What is just one step higher still’. Let your feelings slip upward, let them rise up first one step higher, then two, then ten if you can”.
Of the five remaining aspirants, only two could successfully focus their intention and cause their High to become Higher still. To the other three, the Brujo said, “You may go”. To the two remaining he said, “As you can see, although many seek the Path of wisdom, few are chosen to be its’ representatives, not because that Path is exclusive, for it is not, it is for each and every human being. Few are chosen because humanity has been down the wrong path of intention for millennia. Now, with all their flaws, they seem unable to distinguish between what is good and natural, and what is destructively of human creation. They seem unable to determine clearly what is TRUE and what is not, and then act properly upon that Knowledge, and so, are bound to needless suffering and lack of power until such a time as that condition is corrected. As my apprentices, it will be your task, just as it is mine, to show the people the Path of wisdom with the spirit of Marijuana as their guide….

Here is the follow up....
Affirmation of Dedication to the High
As a practitioner of natural law, of what is healthy, good, true and High, I do hereby affirm that the plant known as Cannabis, also known as Marijuana, is sacred to me and that I abide by its sagely effects. Cannabis is my sacrament, my plant advisor, teaching me to better understand the wisdom of nature. I consider it a boon from Nature and God, to instruct Man properly in the art of right living. I recognize that the High of Marijuana, just like the highs of music, or great health, or the high of old growth forests in the spring, or great sex, or the high of mystical revelation, is Holy. I do abide by the advice of the High of Marijuana as I would the words of the most wise, for its’ message is profound, ancient and progressively excellent. Cannabis is my spiritual plant ally. It reveals to me great Paths of high feelings, which I follow to destinations of expanded consciousness. I recognize that the High of Cannabis is, when followed with spiritual intention, a pathway to that which is called, “God” and to the further evolution of humankind. God is of high feelings, and so too is the Herb. Nature is of high feelings, and so too is the Herb. Therefore I heed the High of Cannabis just as I heed the Highs of God and Nature. I affirm that the smoking of this Herb of herbs constitutes an inner discipline. My meditations are upon the High itself, and this High lends itself to insights into truth and personal powers, psychic and soulic. I affirm that the High has the power, when taken as advice of earnest merit, to save humanity and to uplift the human condition from the chains of materialism. The High of this Herb leads to exaltations of clarity, joy, health, communion with God and my fellow souls along the Path, gnostic revelation and realization of facts most profound. So it is that I smoke the Cannabis with reverence…
The practitioner should renew this affirmation twice daily, once upon rising and once before sleep. They should view this statement as a standing intention and a guidepost to right and sane living, taking the Cannabis sacrament with utmost seriousness of study and spiritual dedication. In so doing the practitioner sets the proper stage to learn with humility, the lessons of the Herb and of its’ sacred High.
Furthermore, the practitioner must dedicate themselves to the kind of life, lifestyle and life focus, which is most conducive to learning from the High. In this they must learn to accomplish the following aspects of right living;
1) The taking up of focused and earnest meditation, especially for the purpose of gaining greater self knowledge and self mastery.
2) The purification of the mind in dedication to truth. This includes the rejection of that which is not of the truth, such as consumerism and materialism.
3) The purification of the body in right diet, exercise and detoxification.
4) The embodiment of spiritual intention and ministry, for the sake of transforming both self and the world at large, in accordance with the lessons of the High.
5) The embrace of self as soul and as a center of consciousness. This includes the expansion of the consciousness which the practitioner IS, and which God, Nature and humankind as a collective, ARE.
Upon accomplishing the above 5 aspects of right living, in conjunction with communion with the Herb, the practitioner is made ready for Mastery.
Item 1; “The taking up of focused and earnest meditation, especially for the purpose of gaining greater self knowledge and self mastery.
When not on the Smoke, meditate as follows;
The “Chakra Meditation”
Sit quietly with a straight spine in a place not disturbed, especially in a natural setting, with eyes closed. Relax, and relax again and again, by simply intending to do so. Then begin by focusing upon the feelings that run throughout the entire body. Focus quietly upon your feelings and not upon thoughts. When thought intrudes upon this focus, return again and yet again with your awareness upon body-wide feelings. Do this for at least 5 minutes at a time in the beginning week, then 10 in the second week, and 20 in the fourth week, (once per day or more as the felt need arises). Know that the calming, clarifying effects of this meditation are cumulative, and that these build up in one’s physiology progressively, as the body-mind detoxify and de-stress.
When on the Smoke, meditate as follows;
The “Herbal Chakra Meditation”
Sit quietly with a straight spine in a place not disturbed, especially in a natural setting where no one can observe, with eyes closed. Relax, then relax again and again, by simply intending to do so. Begin by focusing upon the feelings of the High that run throughout the entire body after the first puff. Focus quietly upon your feelings of the High and not upon thoughts. When thought intrudes upon the focus, return again and yet again with your awareness upon body-wide feelings of the High. Do this for at least 5 minutes at a time in the beginning week, then 10 in the second week, and 20 in the fourth week, (once per three days or more as the felt need arises). Know that the raising, calming and clarifying effects of this meditation are cumulative, and that High feelings can build up in one’s physiology progressively, as the body-mind is improved by the Smoke.
Item 2; “The purification of the mind in dedication to truth. This includes the rejection of that which is not of the truth, such as consumerism and materialism.”
Dedicate yourself to logic, to factuality and truth alone, as the guiding focus of mind. Realize that any human beings’ attitude toward the truth is never as important as the truth itself. It is truth which runs the universe, just as it runs our own bodies, the inventions of science and the laws of nature. Only the truth can give us what we need, as individuals and as a species, to overcome any obstacle and achieve any worthwhile goal. Use the scientific method in determining what is true or false…always test your assumptions with repeatedly-gained evidence. Carefully experiment just as the great thinkers of our race have always done, to see if what is assumed is actually SO, or if another explanation for any given question might be better explained through another conclusion. Read the philosophies of the world, ancient and modern. Compare them as to their relative merits and practicality, and take from them all the best of what they have to offer, as a composite of wisdom. Critically examine all the worlds’ religions and systems of thought, and readily discard that which “doesn’t work”, while adopting that which does. Reject that which is illogical and that which is impractical. Know that truth is always practical, knowable and repeatable, and be ever-willing to take responsibility for it in your daily life. Be honest with yourself above all else, and to your own experience, and therefore be able to depend upon your mind for accurate functioning. Never allow outside sources of any kind to tell you what is real and what is not, based solely upon reputation or intimidation. Demand proof(s) of any hypothesis and test any idea rigorously through attempted application. Make as your standing intention of the mind unrelenting genius through truthfulness, and find that genius does indeed rise within, and by progressive degrees. Stand ready to reject that which is not true, for the false is poison to body, mind and spirit. Know that truth gives personal and collective power and the false takes it away. From this principle see that consumerism and materialism are based upon lies and the taking away of power from every person who engages it. With this rejection you will be empowered to overcome the low karma of the modern world, to soar with revelation and empowerment as a fully mature human being. Avoid television for the most part, for it is largely poison for the mind that reduces the functional intelligence of the viewer, and which is made through very poor, anti-spiritual and anti-natural intention.
Item 3; “The purification of the body in right diet, exercise and detoxification.”
The body is our vehicle of mind and spirit in the physical world. It is the wise who treat the body as sacred, as the workshop of the mind and as the temple of the soul. A clean, healthy body is a necessary prerequisite for significant spiritual advancement, as well as the intentional cultivation of genius. Thus, the practitioner must take every measure to cure the body of all addictions, to clean it of all toxins and to make it an instrument of strength, agility, energy and excellent health. Be aware that mind and body are essentially one entity. What afflicts the body also tends to afflict the mind, and what afflicts the mind tends also to cause disease in the body. Work with mind and body as a singular effort, wherein the improvement of either is the improvement of both. Employ also the following measures, which are in accordance with natural law;
1) Eat organic, natural foods whenever possible and practical. Raw vegetables, fruits and nuts are an excellent source of nutrition as they provide the necessary catalyzing enzymes for great health.
2) Cook for yourself, eating fresh stews and other dishes composed of only good, natural ingredients.
3) Take supplements of vitamins and minerals, using the body as an advisor as to what is needed and when, later on in the practice. Experiment, use logic and careful observation as to what to take and when. Take extra vitamin C and E in particular, as these are not only very useful vitamins, they are also anti-oxidants which cleanse the tissues. Take multi-vitamins occasionally, especially before working out as these will be used right away, but not before bed when they will not be used, and will therefore become toxic for the body.
4) Familiarize yourself with natures’ pharmacy…the various medicinal herbs of the world of which Cannabis is a part. Among these which can be commonly obtained, and which are of very noteworthy merit are; ginseng, garlic, onion, parsley, cayenne and ginger. Others of less common availability include, pau d’arco, damiana, sarsaparilla, goldenseal, grapefruit seed extract, senna, chamomile and many others. Take the time to research this area of knowledge, for it is a sane alternative to the, “hack and slash” of modern medicine.
5) Work out regularly and aerobically. In particular, take up regular jogging, cycling or other such activity, which boosts the heart rate for significant periods. Aerobic health is essential to the expansion of consciousness, not to mention all others endeavors in life.
6) Clean the body of all toxins, which are especially prevalent in the modern world. It is best to avoid all meat, including fish, since the seas are now too toxic and meat farming methods are very unhealthy. Instead, find other sources of protein such as the various products made from the soy and other beans. Learn about occasional fasting. Don’t eat too late in the day before bedtime, as undigested food becomes toxic overnight. Read all labels on food religiously, and do not buy those products which have bizarre additives, “stabilizers”, “preservatives” or other chemical compounds, which are not in accord with what the body really needs. Particularly avoid all alcohol and phase out prescription medication through natural substances and meditation, when at all medically possible. Alcohol is particularly destructive, and is an affront to the temple of the body.
Item 4; “The embodiment of spiritual intention and ministry, for the sake of transforming both self and the world at large, in accordance with the lessons of the High.”
“Spiritual intention” means an intent in daily living which embraces the highest good of all life and the advancement of truth. “The embodiment of spiritual intention” means the adoption and practice of spiritual focus, to such a degree that this practice becomes second-nature. Embodied spiritual intention becomes the automatic assumption through which ones’ daily life is focused, and through which the practitioner is empowered to live in alignment with God, Nature, natural laws and the facts which compose spiritual reality. The “transformation of self” in this context means moving, via intention, from the profane to the profound, from the base to the Holy, from the disrespect for life in the modern world, to the great respect for nature that always marks the self realized man or woman. “Spiritual ministry” means advocating the truth and the inherent holiness of life, so that others might be likewise self-realized and inspired to practical, spiritual action. Such ministry is an implicit expression of inner revelation, for in realizing the profound benefits of truth and spiritual reality, one is compelled to share these with as many as will earnestly listen. “In accordance with the lessons of the High” means that as practitioners, we not only listen attentively to the merits of the Cannabis High, but also seek to apply these in all ways practical, to ourselves and society as a whole. We realize that the High of the Herb bears marked resemblance to that which is also called, “joy”, “sex”, “happiness”, “soul”, “exuberant health” and even, “spiritual communion with Nature and God”, and so, revere it as a way-shower, a guide for the sake of right living. Through the High of Cannabis we learn how to expand our consciousness, to intentionally self-evolve, to gain greater clarity, genius, vibrant health and exquisite inner beauty.
Item 5; “The embrace of self as soul and as a center of consciousness. This includes the expansion of the consciousness which the practitioner IS, and which God, Nature and humankind as a collective, ARE.”
The Herb of Herbs, also known as Marijuana, has the power to reveal to those who will take the time and intention to earnestly listen, the higher nature of the self and reality at large. Through meditative focus and spiritual intention, the High places us in greater touch with the soul, or true self. It likewise shows us that as centers of consciousness (who are aware and have energy and intention) we are connected to Nature which is likewise composed of other centers of consciousness. We learn that God is of that same essence as self, (consciousness). God is intent, awareness and energy, just as we and all the life forms of nature essentially are, beyond all physical forms. Through the expansion of consciousness which the Cannabis can promote, we learn that our true identity is soul not occupation. We learn that the true identity of our fellow human beings is not determined by the false distinction of national boundaries, but rather, as centers of consciousness who share all the same spiritual, mental and physical needs as we, in union. Through the High of Cannabis we learn the meaning of the phrase, “expansion of consciousness” by following the Path of that High with fidelity. We travel upwards with our intention, seeking not only the High but the Higher Still, and in so doing expand consciousness, spiritual perception, love, clarity, good will and self improvement in all ways. “We travel upwards with our intention” means that upon becoming greatly familiar with the High, (Herbal Chakra Meditation) and with the true self, (Chakra Meditation) the ability then arises to actually raise ones’ degree of High at will. Ask your intuition, ask your soul, ask God, and finally, ask the Cannabis, the following question during your High; “What would just one step higher than my current High feel like”? Likewise ask, “What would just one step higher than my current High do for my clarity, my strength, my love, and my perception into higher states of consciousness?” After asking these, let your body-wide feelings of the High slip upwards, let them ascend first one step and then many more. Know that the Herb is showing us a spiritual pathway, and that the High itself is part of the name of that very Path, with or without Herbal help. Such a pathway exists in and of itself…find it through the Herb, and exalt in its’ excellence. Know that the higher the state, especially using the Herb as a foundation, the higher the revelations and spiritual benefits of all kinds, that the attentive practitioner will reap.
I say to you, accomplish these five aspects of the practice, using the Herbal High of Cannabis as your advisor, and you will achieve truly High things in your life. You will achieve the favor of Nature and of God Itself. You will be, “That Which Raises”, (gets ever higher in their consciousness) and so, earn your rightful place among Saints and mystic Masters alike. But to do this you MUST be exceedingly earnest. You must make every smoke a very serious matter, with a very serious and progressive focus upon the truth that it can reveal. Now that you know of the Path and how it can be reached, forge ahead in exploration of the ultimate frontier…consciousness itself.
