Recently the Dutch put all their poultry indoors. There have been some cases in Russia and the fear is that migratory birds will carry the virus west.
I can't help feeling that it's more payback time----it started in SE Asia and China where chickens ain't treated too well(intensive battery farming is the norm) or any other living form that's edible for that matter.
Unnatural practices bring about drastic outcomes. Like BSE after feeding other animals to herbivorous cows( and now they say human remains as well in imported animal feed from India!). All to make a fast buck.

I don't know how that got into the chain. Indian funeral customs and natural dispersal maybe.

Anyway, shades of Soylent Green. Great film that one. Heartbreakingly sad though. Strange that arch-republican Charlton Heston played in a few of the best anti-corporate dystopian movies in the 60s. But I digress.

I remember reading "The Stand" by Stephen King when I was 15. It was Winter time and cold, no wood to put in the fireplace. I would go to bed early, cover up to the chin and read. Chilling prophecy.
