BCMP RAID! EMERY IN JAIL

Fri Jul 29 2005 03:10 PM

Today the BCMP Bookshop was raided at 11am. Police are there right
now as I write this, and will likely be there until late tonight.

Marc Emery is in the Maritimes but will be in police hands shortly
if not already.

Michelle and MJ Man are also in custody.

The charges are from the US. Marc and the others are being charged
with conspiracy to product marijuana in the US (by selling seeds to
Americans.)

Everything is seed-related. I think they busted some US grows which
that can show were grown from seeds bought from Marc.

Please come down to the BCMP store right now, or tomorrow, or as
soon as you can.

I don't know if the cops will also take all the bongs and pipes, but
they are taking the seeds, the grow equipment, and so on. As for the
PTV computers, I don't know.

More details to come I am sure!

BCMP Decries Loss of Canadian Sovereignty

Today the offices of the BC Marijuana Party, a registered political
party in British Columbia, were caught up in a DEA-instigated raid.
The raid is a dramatic example of the loss of Canadian sovereignty
to the US drug war. The focus of the US drug war is marijuana, with
over 750,000 annual possession charges laid and draconian penalties
for possession, cultivation and sales of the plant. Until today,
Canada took a different approach.

Unfortunately, the Canadian governement appears to have abdicated
its sovereignty to the United States. Most Canadian (and, indeed,
most Americans) do not agree with with the war on marijuana users.
It is a dark day when Canadian municipal police officers are called
upon to do the bidding of US masters.

This raid must serve as a call to arms. Canada is losing the ability
to independently create its drug policy, despite reams of scientific
and empirical evidence that prohibition is more dangerous than a
regulated approach to cannabis distribution. The battle for freedom,
equality and tolerance must be fought and won. We must not allow our
Canadian way of life to be subjected to the whim of the US White
House and its repressive policies.

The BCMP will continue to fight for the freedom of the cannabis
community, both in Canada and abroad.

Vancouver police raid pot business

Broadcast News

July 29, 2005

VANCOUVER -- Police have raided a Vancouver business run by the head of the B.C. Marijuana Party.

And it looks like the raid was ordered by the U.S.

Leader Marc Emery was not at the marijuana seed store when it was raided by police today.

But police say he has been arrested in Halifax.

A store employee says police arrived with a search warrant this morning.

The charges outlined in the warrant indicate it is on behalf of the American government.

Emery and two other people are accused of conspiracy to manufacture marijuana, conspiracy to distribute seeds, and money laundering.

The search warrant named Emery, Gregory Williams and Michelle Rainey-Fenkarek. Bennett said Williams was taken into police custody at the store on Friday while Rainey-Fenkarek was arrested at her home on Thursday night.

Police were not immediately available to comment on whether any arrests had been made.

The store, named Toker's Bowl, is adjacent to the New Amsterdam Cafe where people have been smoking marijuana openly for years.

Several people gathered outside the store to protest the raid, many holding anti-American signs.

Police sealed off the store and covered the windows with paper while they conducted their search.

The search warrant sets out a long list of requests made by the United States to the Vancouver police department.

In the warrant, the U.S. alleges that those named in it have conspired to manufacture marijuana, conspired to distribute marijuana seeds and conspired to engage in money laundering.

The warrant requests that police seize cash and receipts, client lists and other records identifying purchasers of goods from Emery, and employee records, including applications for employment.

It also asks for business and company incorporation documents, leases, rental agreements, computers, hard drives, diskettes and CD-ROMS.

And i don't know who I am more furious with; the American government for sticking their nose into something they shouldn't, or my spineless government for not telling the yanks to keep out of our business.

Sorry 'bout the rant,..
There's nothing like wakeing up to bad news.
Just so all of our pals in the U.S. know,..
The natzis will find every address that seeds were shipped to in the computers.
They will then raid all addresses and "confiscate" ALL property at the addresses. cars, computers, boats and the house itself.
Under American/Natzi drug sezure/forfiture laws.
They will then sell it all at auction to raise more money for the natzi party.
The pigs here stand to make a tidy sum out of the data in the "Confiscated" computers.
Please be "AWARE", my friends!!!
And take all nessasary steps to avoid the inevitable boot to your front door!!

US Marijuana Party Statement on Marc Emery Arrest

At a time when Osama bin Laden is still hiding in a cave in Afghanistan, when we have 2000 soldiers dead in Iraq and more dying everyday with no end in sight, when our country houses 2.5 million prisoners (more than any other country in the world), when the whole country and even Congress are slamming the ONDCP because they have used their $11 billion budget to target pot smokers while meth has run rampant we somehow find the resources to invade our sister country Canada and enforce our draconian drug laws on her citizens over some pot seeds.

This action would not be justifiable even if our drug policies were working but to force another country to abide by US laws that have failed miserably and have caused untold societal damage and erosion of our constitutional rights and civil liberties defies all logic.

Is it any wonder that people all around the world sit and plot our destruction? It is this very kind of "Imperialist Intervention" in the affairs of sovereign nations that causes Americans to be targets of "terrorists".

And until we as Americans take a strong stand against it we will never be safe in this country again...nor do we really deserve to be.

I call on all Americans, regardless of their position on marijuana, to join forces and let it be known that the citizens of our country do not support the actions of the D.E.A.
We never elected the D.E.A. and they DO NOT represent us or our interests.

FREE MARC EMERY!!!

No, there's good news, there.

Emery seeds had the practice of keeping only INITIALS and CITY for their records...

Only orders that were laying on the desk when the raid occurred are in jeopardy. That's just luck of the draw.

Let's all hope for the best for everyone involved.

Bliss,
Ben

The disobedience of George Bush is not a reflection on Jesus Christ who says to "love one another."

That George kills, murders and caging humans for using what Christ God Our Father says is good, is very revealing and what it shows is that George does not have Christ.

That's the problem; He does not have what He should have. When We do not obey Jesus Christ and "love one another," We end up without the "Spirit of truth". We get what George Bush has; the "deluding influence," and it exposes the "self-condemned."

George Bush is a disobedient Christian.

Here is a news item that caught My eye on the subject.

CN MB: Column: Freakin' Outrage Over Emery Bust

FREAKIN' OUTRAGE OVER EMERY BUST

Talk about a freak-out. The arrest of "Prince of Pot" Marc Emery on a U.S. warrant for selling marijuana seeds over the Internet has triggered a midsummer avalanche of protests from Sun readers.

Dripping with scorn toward the Bush administration and contempt for the Canadian government for allowing the extradition case to proceed, readers have mounted the most vocal offensive we've seen in recent memory in the ongoing "war on a herb."

Chuck Beyer of Port Alberni, B.C., is typical in his vitriol.

"The present U.S. administration is one of the biggest criminal syndicates of all time," he writes. "Causing the arrest of Mr. Emery is just another diversion from their high crimes and misdemeanors. I am concerned not only for Canadian sovereignty -- but for the future of what was once a republic next door. Mr. Emery is Mother Teresa compared to this bunch and should not be extradited."

More sedately, R. Mckie of Brighton, Ont., writes: "If Marc Emery has broken a law in Canada let our authorities carry out their job. If what Mr. Emery has done is illegal in the U.S.A. then I guess he had better be careful when entering the States and make sure he does not have any pot seeds on him. To have our own courts complicit in having him extradited for an offence which he did not commit in the U.S.A. is ridiculous."

Writes Wayne Pitts ( "& Family" ) of London, Ont.: "Mark Emery is the leader of a legitimate political party, and the Canadian government has knowingly collected taxes from his U.S. seed sales for a decade, and Mr. Emery has operated openly without interference from Canadian police since 1998. Canada should not be sending political activists to jail in foreign countries, especially when their actions are not even considered to be an 'arrestable offence' in Canada."

American readers are also rushing to Emery's defence -- and some clearly believe he has God on his side.

"A very large percentage of Americans do not support North America's discredited cannabis laws or attacking Marc Emery over any cannabis-related issues," writes Stan White of Dillon, Colo. "It is regrettable to witness the United States persist in this anti-Christian activity, attempting to prohibit, persecute and exterminate cannabis and the cannabis culture. Caging humans for selling plant seeds is hideous and uncivilized and must not be allowed."

Colleen Minter ( aka Bonnie Colleen McCool ) of Stephenville, Tex., writes: "Support for the federal war on drugs is inconsistent with support for individual freedom, constitutional government and the teachings of Jesus."

She adds: "Our present system causes more violence, pain, suffering and death than the drugs themselves and is destroying all that America once stood for. Leaders responsible for promoting our present nonsensical policy will answer to a higher power for their crimes against humanity."

For reader after reader, the "criminals" in this story are the authorities prosecuting Emery -- which raises an interesting point.

Say what you want about them, but pot activists like Emery -- and Winnipeg's Chris Buors, who was sent to jail for six months last winter for running a medicinal grow-op -- are fighting to wrestle the lucrative cannabis trade away from organized crime. That's the rich irony of the situation.

In the 1920s, prohibitionists meant well. They wanted to wipe out the scourge of alcohol addiction and save millions of women and children from the abuse of drunken, violent men. What cause could be more noble?

What they succeeded in doing during their decade-long booze ban, though, was outfit organized crime in America with the means to climb from the streets to the boardroom.

Today it's no different. The anti-drug crusaders going after the likes of Emery are organized crime's best friend. And none of that will change up here in Canada with the Liberals' boneheaded decriminalization law.

Responding to the Emery bust, Ontarian Jack Jordan predicts, "What the U.S. government is attempting to do here will only unite Canadians to forward the legalization of marijuana, just out of spite. It will ... backfire on the U.S."

In light of how eagerly Canadian authorities rolled over to serve the U.S. extradition order on Emery, that sounds like a pipe dream to us, Jack.

The above in bold is a very strong statement!

I believe that we are very likely going to see the very same thing in the US: that of cannabis being arranged to be run by the real criminals...the US government.

On an optimistic note, we should consider that the Canadian authorities may only be handing the DEA the proverbial 'rope' with which to 'politically hang' themselves.

I like it. Laughing

Remember, if the Canadians would've put the kibosh on the extradition request from the 'git, much less of an opportunity for Canadians, Americans, and 'The World' to make their feelings known regarding the absurdities of the drug war would have been presented. The situation represents a great chance for more people (from all over the globe) to be made aware of the serious wrongs being done by our caustic and obnoxious government.

I believe as activists we're in the driver's seat here, believe it or not. The Canadian government seems to be setting the DEA up for a fall, just like the DEA is attempting to do with Emery ... Payback's a bitch, I guess.

But, if the Canadians allow Emery & Co. to be extradited ... then we've got some serious issues to continue dealing with.

Hope I'm right on this ... * fingers crossed *

What's a little ironic for me about all of this nonsense is that I remember being in Quebec around 1982 on a very nice ski vacation to Mt. Saint Anne, and while partying in night clubs in the evening we could sit there at our table and smoke ourselves silly on hash, but the moment I broke out and twisted up a doobie and began to fire it up while ALDO NOVA was playing ... the club's owner appeared out of nowhere to sternly remind me that we were not permitted to smoke marijuana inside his establishment - "NO POT", he said. police

Go figure. dunno
