This article makes me angry for several reasons. It's about Mexican drug gangs forcing the aboriginal people to grow cash-crops for the gangs. Among the crops is marijuana, of course this makes marijuana seem bad to the public.
I'm sure the US DEA will move in if they think the threat significant; but, I'm afraid that nothing will be done to preserve the tribes ways of life. These tribes regularily consume peyote to commune with God. If government forces move in to "rescue" them, you can be sure they'll try to destroy and christianize these people who have lived a self sustained existance for over a 1,000 years.
Anyway, here's the link. Any comments?

Here is the thing that you will have a hard time getting the government/DEA(th)/Un etc. to accept...
These gangs are forcing these people to grow cannabis. Gangs at fault? NO!
The governments anti-cannabis war is at fault. Cannabis is a cash crop, and its illegal. So not only are lives destroyed for using it, lives are destroyed in producing it. ALL BECAUSE ITS ILLEGAL.
If the draconian anti-cannabis laws were changed, and cannabis were legal to grow in the home/obtain through legal sources, then there would be no market for illegal producers anymore.
Get the government to see how changing the laws would help citizens and those abroad as well? I sure hope so. But I dont see it happening fast enough.
