I find the story of Mohammad to be a distressing one.
Excellent job in pointing out the importance of "contemporary" evidence.
I have got in countless arguments about this.
"Well, how do we know George Washington existed?"
"Or, or, how do we know that Joan of Arc existed?"
THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE saw Jesus, according to Paul.
Yet, the rest of Jerusalem, who kept very detailed records, failed to mention the greatest leader of their time.
On the Christian side of things, to look through their prism, I would like to ask a question though.
What of the Great Library of Alexandria?
What of those who perhaps plotted against Jesus?
History is, as we know, written by the victors.
So we must be careful in what we "think" we know about the past.
Is it possible, that all records of Christ were destroyed at one time or another? (That doesn't just extend to Christ, but easily could be extended to a vast majority of others.)
Are there any accounts of this anywhere to be found?
A loaded question indeed, but something to consider regarding any subject. HOW SURE CAN WE REALLY BE ABOUT THE PAST REGARDING ANYTHING? In terms of being "sure"?
It is a possibility, that most of the world right now would swear up and down, that pot is bad for you.
And then write about it. And then if records were found 2,000 years from now, only part of the story would be told.
But it does not make it the truth.
How do we seperate fiction from fact?
Get my drift? This is why I highly appreciate the "scientific method".
What are your thoughts? |

Historians know that it is impossible for any historian to be objectively accurate on anything other than the skeleton of overall history.
All of the details of history are personal interpretations. History tells you as much about the time period of the historian as it does about the time period the historian describes. History keeps changing as society and culture change (and physical evidence is found or lost).
One person can burn hundreds of thousands of ancient Egyptian documents as "pornography" while another person can see from surviving paintings that during antiquity the ancient Egyptians learned yoga from the ancient Hindus and practiced yoga unclothed.
Do you interpret pictures of beautiful young naked women in yoga postures as ancient confirmation of time-tested principles or do you immediately think it is "pornographic" and demand that it be destroyed?
Do you see the pantings of hemet priestesses of Bes performing belly dancing to tell the Pygmy myth of the Garden of Eden (a myth about coming of age sexually) as beautiful and inspirational or do you see them as "pornography"?
Do you view statues of (Queen) Sobekneferu as great artwork depicting the teenage Pharaoh or do you view it as "child pornography"?
Do you cover up the breasts on the statues of Ma'at (Justice) before holding a news conference?
Do you kidnap, beat, rape, torture, and murder innocent Witches for engaging in the ancient Egyptian practice of burning cannabis flowers and buds?
Or do you breathe in "the Goddess's Breath" (Neter Sentra)?
I'm sorry, I'm rambling.... _________________ http://www.prntrkmt.org/ |
