A language of fear:

If you are thinking Esperanto… well, that isn't it. But you are getting warm, radioactively lukewarm; for the language Americans are being asked to master is Nuclearanto. Our neo-conservative caretakers have made this fission-Esperanto a very simple language for us to communicate political feelings and also properly punctuate demands; a tongue that requires neither vocal chords to communicate, nor reading signs, nor dactylic recognition; a language rooted in none of the accepted six language families but, instead, in the oldest and deepest of all human emotions: fear. Yep, make no mistake about it; Americans have adopted a second national language: Nuclearanto; pronounced “Nucular-anto” by its principal speaker, and dean academician of this lingua universalis, George W. Bush. This dubiously awaited lingua universalis is finally here; not for science or for commerce, but for all necessary, even unnecessary, communication dealing with diplomacy, war… and, naturally, victors' peace.

It is correctly observed that the Americans have mixed feelings about their weapons of mass destruction.

Although he has done so before the Non-Proliferation Treaty was even negotiated, up to the current day in my eyes the American who has best expressed these feelings is a mathematics theacher who made a short stint into cabaret, Tom Lehrer. (Which provides me with the opportunity to link a permanently available MP3. Ha!)

I am still surprised how few Americans are aware of the international political background of the American use of weapons of mass destruction against Japan. There was a multilateral ultimatum issued by a majority of the powers that would become the United Nations Security Council Veto Core, demanding unconditional surrender:

Quote:
"The alternative for Japan is prompt and utter destruction."

Diplomats of that time however did not take into account that if you use a wunderwaffe against a nation which still holds others under occupation, with the unconditional surrender these would suddenly drop out of the hostile claw and be helpless to anything that happened. Up to the current day, Koreans are paying the price for this shizophrenia.

I do not see any situation on the horizon in which the Americans would achieve a similiar license to eleminate cities to force a government change its ways. But at the same time, if you ask me who at this point has been more bullying, more deceptive, and more hostile my answer is Persia:

Quote:
Iran expects the European Union to learn a lesson from settlement of dispute over British marines and see how the constructive diplomacy helps resolve the crisis.

The narrow-minded interpretation made by German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier about arrest of 15 UK marines in Iran's territorial waters by Iranian coast guards lacks credibility.

"Iran does not need theatrical show," an Iranian official said in reaction to Steinmeier's interpretation about the incident which conveys a negative attitude from the EU presidency.

How narrow-minded, they are doing a theatrical show, and inverting the reality, obviously in the expectation to bully Europe into silence.

The Persian side fails to explain why the Indians, one of their major business partners, would be lying with the location data they provided of the routine inspection of their commercial vessel for the suspicion of car-smuggling.
