Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur boldly slammed the bailout bill this past weekend as the work of criminal insiders who have shut down the normal legislative process to commit “high financial crimes” and defraud the American people, while Rep. Michael Burgess warns that “martial law” has been declared.

The two Congress members are part of a growing minority of representatives sounding the alarm about the dictatorial nature of the bailout bill, which is expected to be up for a vote in the House today, with most in Congress having not had the opportunity to even read the legislation.

The bill is expected to reach the Senate on Wednesday as a raft of outraged politicians cry foul about being strong-armed and accused of being unpatriotic for opposing the carte-blanche passage of a piece of legislation that fundamentally centralizes control of the financial infrastructure of the country into the hands of the government and the Federal Reserve.

“We are Constitutionally sworn to protect and defend this Republic against all enemies foreign and domestic. And my friends there are enemies,” Kaptur told the House floor.

“The people pushing this deal are the very ones who are responsible for the implosion on Wall Street. They were fraudulent then and they are fraudulent now.”

“My message to the American people don’t let Congress seal this deal. High financial crimes have been committed,” added the Democrat from Ohio.

“The normal legislative process has been shelved. Only a few insiders are doing the dealing, sounds like insider trading to me. These criminals have so much political power than can shut down the normal legislative process of the highest law making body of this land,” Kaptur concluded.

Elsewhere, Rep. Michael Burgess (R-TX) said that the only information he had received about the bailout was what talking points to use on the American people and that he had been thrown out of meetings for not blindly supporting the bill.

Ominously, Burgess also comments, “Mr. Speaker I understand we are under Martial Law as declared by the speaker last night.”

Absent any proper hearings concerning the legislation, Burgess called for the legislation to at least be posted on the Internet for 24 hours so that the American people could “see what we have done in the dark of night.”

The anger of the people was expressed outside of the Capitol Building in a demonstration called by VoteNoBailout.org. Participants included homeowners facing foreclosure, community activists, civil rights groups, trade unionists and anti-war coalitions. The spirited demonstration received a large amount of media coverage from U.S. and international media.



The organizers said that the big bankers and corporate thieves, working through the leaders of the Republican and Democratic Parties, are bribing and coercing elected officials so that they will vote for the Grand Theft Bailout that gives $700 billion of tax-payers' money to the biggest banks. More than 200,000 letters have been sent through VoteNoBailout.org to Congress. Speakers demanded an immediate moratorium on foreclosures and evictions. The people marched to Congressional offices chanting "Bailout the people, not the banks."

Stop Bush's "No Banker Left Behind Act"

Having suffered a stunning defeat of their "Grand Theft Bailout" Bill on Monday, the Bush Administration, the banks and Wall Street are now coming back for their second try. They are used to directing the affairs of the country regardless of the will of the people. The U.S. Senate is expected to vote tonight, Wednesday evening, in favor of a nearly identical version. This is intended to force the House of Representatives to do the same when they return tomorrow, Thursday.

Bush's "No Banker Left Behind Act" was defeated because of overwhelming public opposition. But now the politicians have come up with an easy answer. In an unprecedented step, Congress is virtually shutting down its incoming constituent email. They are installing the digital version of riot police, protecting the politicians from an enraged population that demands to be heard. Congress has acknowledged that it is receiving millions of emails from the people of the United States, all opposing this theft of $700 billion to be handed to the richest bankers. People who try to send emails are likely to receive error messages and their emails will not go through during "peak hours." Congress claims that this is a response to the overwhelming emails to keep their server from crashing; however, their server did not crash during the time they were receiving the most emails and they quietly instituted this program late Tuesday afternoon.

The U.S. Senate - this country's version of the House of Lords - is returning to do the work of the White House in league with the biggest bankers. Known as "millionaires club" because of the elite status of its members, the U.S. Senate is playing the same role that the King's House of Lords played in earlier times in British history, a political barrier created to protect the aristocracy from the wrath of the people.

The ANSWER Coalition is urging all of its members and supporters to call Congress, to email them at "off peak" hours, and to come directly to the U.S. Capitol on Thursday morning at 10 am so our voices can be heard at the People's Demonstration/Speakout. Congress can run but they can't hide from the wrath of the people. We won't let them.
