I received this email today and thought I would post it. Wink

Subject: Fw: drug problem

The other day, someone at a store in a small town read that a
methamphetamine lab had been found in an old farm house in the adjoining county and he asked me a rhetorical question,
"Why didn't we have a drug problem when you and I were growing up?"

I did have a drug problem when I was young:

I was drug to church on Sunday morning. I was drug to church for
weddings and funerals. I was drug to family reunions and community
socials no matter the weather.

I was drug by my ears when I was disrespectful to adults. I was also
drug to the woodshed when I disobeyed my parents, told a lie, brought
home a bad report card, did not speak with respect, spoke ill of the
teacher or the preacher. Or if I didn't put forth my best effort in
everything that was asked of me.

I was drug to the kitchen sink if I uttered a profane four letter word.
(I know what Lye soap tastes like.) I was drug out to pull weeds in
mom's garden and flower beds and cockleburs out of dad's fields.

I was drug to the homes of Family, Friends, and neighbors to help out
some poor soul who had no one, to mow the yard, repair the clothesline
or chop some fire wood, and if my mother had ever known that I took a
single dime as a tip for this kindness, she would have drug me back to
the wood shed.

Those drugs are still in my veins; and they affect my behavior in
everything I do, say, and think. They are stronger than cocaine, crack
or heroin, and if today's children had this kind of drug problem,

America might be a better place today.

Sounds kinda like how I was raised but I'm not sure I ever really learned by it. Actually, all I gotta do is think about that starched wool suit momma used to make me wear to church is enough to keep me on the narrow path. Shocked

I kinda agree with Romadon.....

I'm in my 50's.

Back in those days things were not necessarily better, if being 'drug around by the ears' was any indication.... Laughing

No wonder you and me and Ben hit it off so good, guess us 3 is about the same age. Maybe we could call ourselves "The Three Musketeers." Laughing

Anyway, to get back to the subject.

It seemed I was always getting my ass beat or kicked any old time and for any reason (whether I deserved it or not) and many times it would be for the wrong reason altogether, and I would be thinking, like, "Yeh, I'm as guilty as sin, but it sure isn't anything you assholes are accusing me of." Sort of how I felt about it anyway. Not saying I didn't deserve it but I always thought if I was gonna get an ass whooping it should be for something I actually did.

What I'm getting to I guess is that I surmised that if they were going to keep beating my ass for no apparent good reason that I may as well start supplying them with some reasons, which I did and wound up turning into quite a destructive juvenile delinquent. I think I was around 12 years when the detectives first came knocking on our door asking questions.

I was also very cruel to some animals as a child but it seems the same adult assholes that loved beating all the kids back then thought it was also perfectly alright to be mean or cruel to animals (maybe even encouraged it) and it also seems that many of them remain/ed that way throughout their entire lives.

I never quite understood how some people try/ed to justify cruelty to animals by such statements as Oh, don't worry, all young boys or children go through that stage, so it's something I shouldn't feel any shame or remorse for.

Well, maybe they don't, it seems some of them still enjoy such things. They shouldn't show me some of the things they do on TV depicting how many so-called grown-up mature adult people treat some of God's creatures. I see stuff like that I wanna hurt something too and it isn't the helpless critters.

I know I did terrible things as a child but won't try to justified it, at least I came to think it was evil, whereas it seems some folks think it is there Christian duty to be cruel to animals, while they will even condemn and imprison people who are very loving and kind and even go so far as to call them pagans and heathens.

Oh! well they are not Christians!, so they don't even know right from wrong. Like who are they to tell us, well we'll show them a thing or three.

Well, there I did it again, more ranting and raving.

Hmmmm the 3 Mouseketeers...I just loved Annette!

I was always scared of my mom....I couldn't do anything fun like going a couple miles from home on my bike...she would just about shit, throw the biggest tantrum and I'd get my ass whipped..and she didn't go lightly on the switch, either.

You're not alone in your childhood pranks...I was caught smoking in a big field of tumbleweeds. They burn like wild fire and can be very dangerous....
The only thing I was resentful of tho was that she never seemed to make any mistakes!
Funny how they can get you to believe that...?!

Alright, smartass, I thought Annette was cute too but I wasn't exactly thinking of becoming her. (Maybe not such a bad idea though. Laughing )

But, there it is again, I can't say now how many times the Fire Department had to come and put out the City Dump or one of the many fields that surrounded us because I was really infatuated with and couldn't seem to stop playing with fire. We also lived behind a used car sales lot and me and my buddy was sitting in one of the cars smoking one day.

A couple hours later we heard a big commotion next door and look to see smoke pouring from the same car with the owner and someone trying to put it out. Shocked Laughing Funny now but it wasn't then, unless we didn't get caught it might have been.

Didn't I hear you say you were, or had been, with the Fire Department, Fyrefly? I hear a lot of firemen have actually been fire-bugs or pyromaniacs at some time in their lives.

Or, 'The three old guys with fire hoses in their hands...' Wink Laughing

Yeah, i was a firefighter in former life.

It's true, alot of us had a real fascination with fire....now they call it a disease and send you to counseling if you're caught lighting matches...won't they ever learn that all they had to do was talk to the kid and commiserate with him about how cool it is...and then, tell him to talk to us (the firefighters) anytime he wanted to light something....

I'll bet when you were around lighting 'em the firemen just loved you....
They'd say, "alright, another GD dump fire.......one of the hardest fires to put out! Wink

Sorry Guys! Didn't mean for you all to go back thinking of old tramas or anything, just thought it made a statement.

Good, bad or otherwise, it made me appreciate my parents more. Shocked
