Drug charge lands him 10 years
SHAH ALAM, SELANGOR, Oct 7
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A former Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) student was sentenced to 10 years’ jail and 10 strokes of the rotan by the High Court yesterday after pleading guilty to an alternative charge of possessing cannabis.
Judge Datuk K. N. Segara ordered Fazil Ibrahim, 28, to serve his sentence from the date of his arrest on May 22, 2002.
In passing sentence, Segara said: "It is such a pity. You are a bright student, and it is sad to see your life go to waste.
"Maybe you were influenced by your friends. Unfortunately, you have committed an offence, and you have to bear the consequences."
Fazil, who was with UiTM’s Art and Design Faculty admitted to having 230.2g of cannabis at Jalan 4/6 in Pandan Perdana, Ampang at 8.50pm on May 22, 2002.
He was charged under Section 6 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, and sentenced under Section 39A(2) of the same Act, which carries life imprisonment or not less than five years’ jail, and not more than 10 strokes of the rotan.

It's a pity that this idiot thinks beating people is going to help. It's a pity that he is a government official who will never get the chance to feel such a beating. They wonder why judges like this guy get death threats on a daily basis. _________________ -Brother Adam (we are all one family)

Hello Ferre,
Aloha. Where's the blessing in this horror story? Some day, hopefully very soon, the THC Ministry will be able to prevent instances like this, and or release all the people serving sentences such as this sparkling-clear corruption of justice with a dose of zero-mercy.
Please God, Goddess, Voice Within My Own Head, or The Great You Name It, whatever the creative power for manifestation is, I(we) sincerely and passionately request of you - and I(we) accept - the means and the ability to act quickly and effectively in such cases, thereby preventing any further injustices from ever happening again on this Earth.
*** Hey, how about if we create a forum site where we actively keep track of people like this, people who want our assistance - anywhere in the world? Amnesty International says that THE most effective way to help incarcerated people is to write and visit them to lift their spirits and to let their jailers know that they have an outside support system witnessing their treatment. ***
Please think about this and let's do it as a ministry project. Yes?
All the very best to you,
Roger
P.S. God, that's a great idea!

Having been incarcerated, I can vouch for the truth in this statement...
YES - visiting & writing incarcerated inmates very effective!
Man, I remember eagerly waiting for the mail to arrive everyday hoping there would be a letter for me.
Been there, done that... don't want to do it again though.
Peace,

Looking forward to working on that one... _________________ Fyrefly1
